Title: update to Forrest Fang audio page
Post by: ffcal on December 26, 2007, 09:50:35 PM
In the spirit of jkn's recent goodies, I've added two new mp3s to my audio page.  One piece is an experimental remix I did in October for Barry Cleveland.  The other is an improv I did on Christmas day with the Wavestation I just acquired from Loren.  Great machine!

The audio page is here:

Hey guys, thanks.  I appreciate the feedback.  It's a ritual for me to record almost immediately after I get a new piece of gear to try out the new sounds.  Wasn't sure anyone would be interested in the improv.  Was going to take it down, but now I'll keep it up there, at least for a while.

I don't buy new gear all that often, but when I do I always do a big jam session just like you're describing... sometimes I really wish I would hit record during those because I typically don't...

Your Wavestation jam is definitely fun and enjoyable - nothing like that initial rush of discovering new sounds and instruments...

Probably wouldn't have been as good. Something about knowing the tape is rolling...it makes you too cuatious.

I've just added a new track for streaming to the last.fm page someone previously posted in my name.  (I might as well get some use out of it!)  It's a 6 minute piece called "Cicadas" that I finished in the last month or two.  It should be appearing on a fundraising CD for the WWUH show, "Ambience" by late February 2009.

Here's the new page:

Mark,

I'm working on it!  I'm actually very close to finishing it, but keep making last minute tweaks here and there...little things I only seem to hear on mixdown that drive me crazy until I can fix them.

To keep that other file company, I've added 2 more unreleased pieces to my last.fm page.  One is an extended Spirit Oscillator piece from 2001, and the other is music I composed for a video that Michael Bentley did for Foundry Night in 2004.  These 2 new files are downloadable.  Thanks for listening.

Since last night I've been having fun with a recent Beta for David Strohbeen's algorithmic program ArtSong.  I used an early incarnation of ArtSong on my 'Blind Messenger' CD many moons ago.  Thought I would share with you a four-minute demo that I recorded last night and part of this morning called "Geiger Pulse" that uses the program exclusively with my Morpheus.  The MP3 demo can be downloaded from the audio page of my website.
