Title: Good Web Radio?
Post by: Kendall Station on January 24, 2008, 12:34:56 AM

Was wondering if anyone has any great web radio links they'd like to share.  Something good and random to have in the background while working?  I've personally been getting really the more space / zerobeat side of things...

Drone Zone at www.SomaFM.com is usually good for that style.

The Mixing of Particulate Solids has 3 separate channels playing ambient, downtempo, jazz, glitch, Fax, industrial and just about everything else. A playlist is displayed for each channel so you can choose which one you want to listen to before plugging in.

There's a whole "ambient" and "electronic" section in the iTunes radio where you can find some nice stuff. SomaFM, which Anthony also recommends, is on there.

There is also http://www.bluemars.org/ which has three streams to choose from. Beets, beetless and one with voices. Not the ones in my head though.

Just checked out sleepbot....pretty cool.  I've hit up Soma and BlueMars alot....good stuff.  BlueMars is my favorite, especially the cryosleep channel...playlist a bit limited tho.   Gotta hit up the others on this thread....takes a few days to put many things on and go to sleep eh?

I have to say that I've fine-tuned an excellent mix through Pandora... lots of Harold Budd, Brian Eno, Windy and Carl, STOL and then sometimes there are these oddball artists thrown in that have like an ambient-space one-off which is cool... Pandora offers the ability for me to share this, so if anybody would like to hear what I'm hearing let me know, and I'll add you to the mix, I think it requires an email address or something or you can look up my username: mattborghi, I believe...

There have been a variety of sites over the years that have tried to do something like Pandora, but so far Pandora is the best, and it really works excellently!

I'll put in a plug for the archived shows at Ultima Thule (Australian) (http://www.ultimathule.info/listen.html), and Electroland (Danish) (http://www.nattefrost.dk/elektroland/playlist.htm).

Thanks for the Electroland reminder. I hadn't listened to it for a couple of years - forgot how much I enjoyed it.
