Hello everyone. I wanted to hang out for a couple weeks before bursting in and
blowing my own horn, when absolutely no one knows me. I hope that now is a
more appropriate and polite time to announce this.
My debut CD, A Distant Light, was released Dec. 27th, 2010 and is now available
from my web site at http://hollanholmesmusic.com

Here's my short review/appraisal for all interested:

A Distant Light might in fact be one of the finest debuts by a US ambient artist in recent memory. Tactile, absorbing, shifting unceremoniously between modes of 'light' & 'dark' with great finesse, the restless tableaux on hand proffer various strands of muted greys and other muddy sonic hues. Holmes' tonal palette is complex enough to shirk cliché, thanks to a knack for concocting sounds that don't simply plumb the well-worn environmental drones of yesterday: oddly disturbing eddies of hushed 'beats' occasionally surface to vie with low-key bass thrum and grandly isolationist tonal clusters. Expertly done and deserving of wider recognition.

Darren,
You have no idea how honored I am to hear you say this. I do not take your opinion lightly
and I simply cannot thank you enough.

For those of you who would like to hear more than the one-minute sound bytes, you can
now listen to A Distant Light in it's entirety (downloading is disabled) over at Sound Cloud...

A Distant Ligh ...
Expertly done and deserving of wider recognition.

It should get that recognition.  This week's Hearts of Space features a couple of tracks
and one from the new Meg Bowles mentioned in another thread---an impressive debut indeed.

This is a really nice album! Very subtle in its dynamics but really gets under the skin with repeated listens. Uplifting work. Check it out!
