Wow, sad news. Edgar Froese has just passed away, according to a post on Facebook by his son Jerome.

Even though his later music didn't touch me as much, his early work had a profound effect on me and changed my life forever. He will be missed.

I am gutted.

35 years + since I heard Rubycon for the first time and Edgar's music, both solo and with the Dream, has been part of my life.

RIP Edgar.

Legend.

It's been awhile since I've listened to any TD which is strange considering what an influence he and the other TD members music was on me through the '70's. I think I will dig some out tonight. RIP Edgar.

That's sad news. I remember discovering TD in high school and being completely floored by some of the things they were doing. /bow and rest in peace.

Froese and TD made a huge impression on me when I started making music.  They were the benchmark for me for 70s EM, and still are, along with Klaus Schulze.  My TD favorites were Phaedra, Ricochet and Rubycon, and Froese's Epsilon in Malaysian Pale ( the original version) was right up there, too.  My thoughts are with his family.

Phaedra, Rubycon, Epsilon, and Aqua were such ground-breaking albums for me in the early '70's. I was fortunate enough to see TD live twice and was spellbound by the incredible sonic landscapes they created. And what a recorded legacy they left behind. Definitely listening to Phaedra and Rubicon tonight and raising a silent toast to Edgar and a prayer to his family. RIP.
