Title: RIP Jˇhann Jˇhannsson
Post by: mgriffin on February 10, 2018, 12:58:28 PM
Shocking news... one of my favorite composers, Jˇhann Jˇhannsson, has passed away far too young. I must've played the Arrival soundtrack CD 200 times in the past year. A terrible loss.

I remember his early albums on the Touch label, and lost track of him until recently. Since then I've been buying & playing a lot of his soundtracks, especially Arrival, and his beautiful album OrphÚe.

Here's a link to one of the articles confirming this news.

Here is a super-cool discussion on the making of "Heptapod B" from Arrival. It gives me a new appreciation of the track.

A very special composer.....he was set to do the new Blade Runner but ended up not doing it, director went with Zimmer.  A mistaken choice I feel especially after what he did with Arrival.

Sad News!

I will watch "Arrival" today once again. It was the most impressive film I have seen recently - with such a profound and haunting vision.
The motion picture soundtrack didnt interrupt the film and that is always a good sign for a good music.

FramtÝin fyrir ■ig Jˇhann Jˇhannsson.

Saw him with the very talented 'Kitchen motors' in the wilds of North Yorkshire, years ago.
RIP indeed and at such a young age.
