Title: Youtube Official artist channel ?
Post by: petekelly on July 09, 2020, 12:23:10 PM
Does anyone have any experience of such a thing ?

I ask as my 'topic' channel that everyone gets via CD Baby is currently wrongly attributed and they recommended getting one of these OAC (Official Artist Channels) things.

I'm not sure if it's worth it or it might cause other issues. For example, they say you need a wikipedia page (which seem to be very difficult to set up) for you to merge stuff together etc.

Anyway, it's a bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd ask here - as we are back online  -:)

I got a message from them, (You Tube) as I would think most people have, about setting one up. But as I post very little video it probably isn't worth the ball ache to set it up. For me its probably better just to post on the normal channel, as and when I have some video to post.
For those who are prolific video posters it may be worth it, although not sure what an official artist channel would target, and would it be any different to what happens now, as in if you subscribe to a channel, you get a notification to say a new video by "xxxxx" has been posted.

Cheers David,
Will have a think, it could be more trouble than it's worth and may be irreversible if I try it.

Just to follow on, it worked fine.
I gained a slight amount of customisation of the channel and a 'note' logo, so it was worth it :)
I don't really understand how youtube works, but that's by the by.
