Let's face it people, you can't just listen to gentle, soothing and pretty (ambient) music all the time.

There comes a time when you must balance it out with something loud and noisy.
This piece right here. It will fix everything and restore balance to the force. ;D
After this, you can listen to ambient music for many years to come....  8)

I recommend headphones, but you might want to adjust volume while listening.

Max Corbacho - Nocturnes II
This is fantastic. Max has always been super-talented, but I feel like he's finally found his own  unique voice in the last few releases. The opening and closing tracks of this album are worth the price of admission alone.

Thanks for the tip.  I've become quite a fan of Max. He's obviously inspired by Steve Roach but has become pretty much as good in his own right. The harmony in some of his soundworlds is absolutely gorgeous. My favorite album so far is Splendid Labyrinths, especially The Flowing Path and Wonderheart.

Shpongle - And the day turned to night

20 years old. Still one hell of a trip. Something of a production miracle as well.
Probably the best thing to come out of the entire psy/goa genre.

Steve Roach - Spiral Revelation

Just found out it's nominated for a Grammy award in the New Age category (!)

I checked the results and he didn't win. Still nice to be nominated, I guess.

Lustmord - Dark Matter
Very nice album!

Raison D'Etre - Metamorphyses
Love it. Maybe it's my favorite from this artist.

Jean Sibelius - Symphony No. 7
My new favorite recording of this masterpiece, paired with some nice images. Obviously it takes time to get into this music, but it's so much worth it. The ending is surely one of the most profound moments in music.

Wouldn't it be great if these guys team up again?
They're practically made for each other. Well, not in that way, but as artists. ;)
Make it happen! 8)

Alexander Scriabin - The Poem of Ecstasy
Pretty much my favorite piece of music.

The finale always knocks me off my socks. When I heard it live my life was complete, for a moment. :)
As one of the youtube commenters put it: "The vastness of space, the flight of photons, billions of billions of galaxies: its all there in one final explosion of sound."

Goatrance. Laughing Buddha - Karma (1997)

It's old but still one of my favorites for that high octane kaleidoscopic feeling.

I posted this in the currently listening thread once, but it deserves to be posted again if we're talking about 80s vibes:

^ Very nice indeed. I like the 80ies vibes.

I quite like this one too, especially in combination with the clip which is beyond cool:
