I like facebook for making random and hopefully amusing comments but don't know if it has much value as an advertising tool for a small level band.  It's good for me as a yoga teacher because it always my students to connect to me and they dig that.

I like SoundCloud best for music!  It reminds me of the old home taping days, it's all about the music and there's tons of great small level bands on there.  I've just started using it but I'm pretty addicted.

Alex Hacke from Neubauten at a barbeque joint at 3am in Minneapolis.  It was after their show at First Avenue, we went over to his table and got a CD signed, he was quite pleasant especially considering that it was the wee hours of the morning and my party and I were two sheets to the wind on a variety of substances (this was pre-sobriety days for me).

When I worked at a record store in Washington state, I met Elliot Smith about three months before he passed.  More in our genre, Sol Stokes used to be a regular at the store and put his CDs on consignment, a really pleasant guy.  Death Cab For Cutie would consign their cassette tapes there too, well before they broke.

I've taught yoga to the guitar player from Arcwelder too.  His wife was a regular student of mine and he'd come along when he had the chance.

Thanks very much for the remix, I really like it!  I was having an insomnia/indigestion night and hearing this completely turned my night around!  =)

I just released a very strange mixed tape here: http://civicdutyrecords.blogspot.com/2010/10/cd005-our-holy-ed-stare-snake-in-face.html

The genres jump all over the place and may or may not be up your alley but I can pretty much guarantee that you've not seen a track listing quite like this one...

OUR HOLY ED
"Stare A Snake in the Face (Unofficial Version Vol. 1)"

track listing:
1. Zola Jesus "Night"
2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion (Acoustic)" edit
3. :zoviet france: "ram"
4. Robyn "Dancing on My Own (Michael Woods Remix Edit)"
5.Merzbow "noisembryo pt. 4"
6. Swans "Reeling the Liars In"
7. Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On (Our Holy Ed's special Weeding the Wedding Out of the Girl remix)"
8. Ash Ra Tempel "Pluralis"
interlude SF68 "Survival"
9. Dead Kennedys "Soup is Good Food" edit
10. Oneida "Sheets of Easter"
11. Scuba "So You Think You're Special"
12. Eddie Entropy "Timewaster 2099"
13. Emmanuel D'orlando "Footages"

I would sincerely appreciate any and all feedback you might have!

Hello!

My name is David, I'm currently involved with the project Eddie Entropy, which is (after a number of digressions) an industrially-tinged dark ambient.

I am 36 years old, live in Westminster, CA and manage a yoga studio for my day gig (pretty much a dream job). I am currently going through a divorce with my wife of 17 years.  It's strange being single after 20 years in a relationship (we started dating 3 years before marriage), haven't really had the nerve to actually enter the dating scene.

I've been involved in music since 17 and used to release cassettes under a wide variety of project names.  I've also been in a few bands over the years.  Currently I'm pretty obsessed with krautrock and Witch House music. I cycle through phases pretty regularly.

I'm happy to be on here and really enjoy the pleasant community this forum fosters!

Now Playing / Re: Long Term Listening - your ambient classics
« on: October 06, 2010, 03:32:02 PM »
It's an older topic but an evergreen, so I figure I'll dip my feet in.

Many classics already mentioned.  In addition to Eno, Fripp/Eno, Zoviet France things (and limiting myself to one album per artist) that I'd add are:

- Popol Vuh "Aguirre" (the CD bonus track "Aguirre III is my favorite song period and has remained so for five years)
- Coil "Time Machines" (Simply brilliant)
- Rapoon "Fallen Gods" (love it, my favorite of the many great Rapoon releases)
- Klaus Schultz "Irrlecht" (neo-classical Kraut)
- Mother Mallards Instant Masterpiece Company "Like a Duck to Water" (the whole album's pretty good, but the track C.A.G.E. is perfection itself and brilliantly blends early minimalist composition with early MOOGs)
- Lustmord "Heresy" (probably mentioned upthread, this album is practically responsible for the whole dark ambient scene that followed)
- Muslimgauze "Veiled Sisters" (Favorite by the very prolific Mr. Jones, a great collage of beats and sounds with neither clouded the other)

I am sure there are others too that I will slap my forehead for missing, but that's what I have right now.

Neu: 86 (the lost tapes of Rother and Dinger, some great pieces and some fillers)

Far better than reputation would have it!

Hello friends!

I am involved in the musical project Eddie Entropy!  We have just released a music video for the title track of our upcoming album "Blot Out the Sun With Sex" (available 10/21 on Dark Winter).  It is available at

This is industrial drone with emotionally exhausting vocals.  I hope you enjoy and I'd love feedback if you have a moment to spare!

There is a free music video for an edit of the fourth track from this cd, "Back To The Primal".

It is a bit political, but you may enjoy:

Great track and video!  I've enjoyed your material since I first heard it on Dark Winter and it's been a pleasure to listen to your evolution!
