i am deeply saddened by this.  i know jim had been struggling with some things over the last few years and i've feared this day for awhile, i just never imagined it would be so soon.  i feel very sad for jim's family.  he was just a family guy and loved his grandkids dearly.  jim had a wild personality.  he was the kind of guy who would punch you on the arm really hard one minute and give you a big hug the next.  he pulled no punches and told everything like it is regardless of how you might take it, as we all know over the years in the forum.  i think he still holds the record for most posts and prolly will for many years to come.

many of you just don't know HOW MUCH music jim has been making over the years.  since he started making music a few years ago, he had been banging out a new CD just about every week.  many of us around here are very passionate about music and making music but i think jim topped us all in his passion and drive.

it's just too weird cause i was just talking with him a few days ago and finalizing the artwork for his next Orion's Belt CD and BAM, he's gone.  i was just not prepared for this.

Everything and Nothing / Re: CD-R Deterioration

Yet another chapter in this super fascinating thread:

A CD-R this morning will not allow the last track to be read: Deep Chill Network - Dreams 4 - Why?

Inspection of the CD-R reveals no damage.

Not sure why some of these have problems and others do not.  I have not had many people report problems over the years, maybe 4 or 5 total CDs, and I usually use the really good CDs when I burn them myself.

I've also personally purchased a lot of CDRs over the years and the only ones I've ever had problems with were some of James Johnson's discs and several Oophoi discs.  I will personally replace any disc of mine that ever 'dies' just let me know.  All Dark Duck Records CD essentially have a lifetime warrenty.

That being said, I also generally rip all CDs that I get just in case :)
