I still think that the way people are coming across ambient music can be termed 'underground'.
People who don't 'follow the scene' can still pick up on ambient through Lastfm and MySpace for
example and people who like it already can listen to the Streaming radio stations and come across
new artists / material. Streaming radio shows like 'Drone Zone' and Stillstream are great for
artists (exposure) and listener (the aforementioned reasons) alike.
Then shows like Ultima Thule archive their shows as podcasts and then there's 'dedicated' ambient podcasts themselves. For an artist
its great to get this kind of exposure.
"debris" actually took several years until it was finished the way I had envisaged it. Musically, it won´t be as calm as "ceasing to exist", the last ['ramp] album in its original line-up. "debris" will be based both on textural ambient soundscaping, ambient field recordings of steelplants, railway trajects, and factories at night, and grinding sequencer rhythms.
More hair from established artists! I'm also thinking ambient haircasts are a missing element.LOL thats funny Scott M2! HairCasting was big in the 80s it seems!
