Hi. I posted a song or two a month or two ago and since then I've finished my first album.

It's dark ambient that sometimes gets pretty noisy. The album is a concept album about a guy (or gal, I never thought about it) who lost a love one and throughout the album spends time thinking about this person, communicating with her spirit, and finally being driven mad by invasive spirits who hijacked his connection with her. I'll let you figure out the details.

Anyway, I need feedback on it so I can suck less in the future. It can be downloaded here:

Thanks!

Wow, thanks.

I've always thought ambient albums ought to be one track or one song divided into tracks. That's only my taste, though. I'm just kind of unsure about my own outputs :-[

Thanks for the comment :D

That song was really just an experiment with drones, more like a learning experience, so it actually came out really short.

I'm not sure what you meant about the breathing sounds. Did you mean the whispering at the beginning of the track? You think they don't fit in? You're probably right, they are a lot more active than everything else in the track.

I'm kind of new to ambient music, writing ambient music, and this community, so...

I started writing this stuff a month or two ago. I'm just now putting it on the internet, and I'd like constructive criticism and encouragement. I've made a myspace:

And as the myspace says, there is also another song I've written (which wouldn't fit on msypace >:( ) that you can download here:

That's actually my first go so it's kind of rough/boring :x

Lastly, although my myspace and song titles make it seem as though I am joking around, that is only because at this point I have no reason to be serious about anything but the music (which I take pretty damn seriously).

Thanks!

Thanks for all the recommendations, guys.
Here's a link to a mix I did in August.  It features ambient-ish music & rain sounds that I added to the mix.  Worked pretty well if I do say so.

You can find it here...There Will Come Soft Rains

I'd like to add another thumbs up to the Paul Vnuk recording.
I liked that, thanks. :D

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. :D
IMO, the best "rain sounds" will be heard on CDs that are more "new agey" than ambient. I am one of the few who say that comment and not mean it as an insult to new age music, by the way. I'm just stating that there are some really good, IMO, ambient-like new agey rain plus quiet music albums out there. But if you want strictly ambient music, as most here define it, with the sound of rain, the best choice is easy: Lost at Dunn's Lake by James Johnson and Stephen Philips. It's not even close. But I can recommend others which are less "ambient" although I think they are darn close. Let me know.
Honestly, I don't care if it's New Age or whatever. I'm really not trying to be specific here.

Is there a drought where you live? I'm in Seattle where there is plenty of free rain sound, without even having to open the windows. But when living in dry climates I always craved rain sounding cds - Expanding Horizon was definitely a relief at these times, as well as Silence Speaks in Shadow...
I live in Texas. Right now there isn't much rain, but pretty soon we should be getting a bunch. I still want some music that incorporates rain into it.

I'm looking for something mostly based off of rain, thunder, wind or whatever related sound there are. There can be more to it than just the sound of rain, for instance: rain with a piano over it (or whatever).

I'd appreciate any recommendations, thanks. :)
