I would add to Hypnagogue that it was amazing to hang and meet so many people that you do not have to explain yourself and explain what is ambient.  Also, there were so many respected artists in attendance that it was great.

It was really encouraging and makes you feel like more of these types of events would perhaps expose more people to this.  I know it is complicated and expensive but it would sure be nice if we could set up mini versions of these across the country.  Maybe that's a dream but dreams are good.

I love, love the Looperlative LP1.  I heard a new version might be coming out but I don't know much more than that.  It is very intuitive for me and works really nice to create stuff on the fly.

Just bought Reach but have not had time to play it.  ODST was not good but friends I know who have played Reach really like it.

I know this is not ambient but I am listening to the new Arcade Fire CD "The Suburbs" which I really like so far.

Everything and Nothing / Bizarre weather
« on: August 05, 2010, 12:29:00 PM »
The weather is very bizarre.  I am here in Southern California and I am reading about the incredible heat in most of the US and several places around the world.  We are experiencing what is the coolest summer so far that I can remember.  We are in the Inland Empire area (north of San Diego and inland) and normally we are 95-105 everday of the summer.  It has bascially been in the 80s most days and low 60s at night  (Most of Southern California seems to experiencing much, much lower temperatures than normal for summer also).

Weird...

Been listening to this for a couple days.  It is in the same vein as some recent releases.  I am having a hard time placing exactly what it is after only a couple listens but there is a different feel to this one.  The sound is really appealing and I want to continue to play it.  Morning of Ages (track 4) and Longing To Be...(track 6) are real standouts for me.

I agree with you on Deadwood.  Now that was frustrating.

I guess I may be in the minority but I really enjoyed the finale.  Also, I was fine with not getting all the answers.  I thought the ending had more meaning to discuss and I found that fun.
