Hypnos Label Releases / Re: CD release: Saul Stokes - Villa Galaxia

Vapor Trails and, Night Painting especially, for me, are wonderful, wonderful tracks.

I love this album. You have a new fan, Saul. Thank you for this great work.

Your music is the feeling of scaling to greater heights from deep in a green grassy valley. Open, fresh evening air. Multiple dimensions and possibilities of existence flickering in and out like a great flux in the multiverse. It feels strident. Somehow aware of what the cosmos means. The electrical impulses are all heightened.

My amateur attempt at some poetry to describe the emotions it conjures in me. Again, thank you!

Hi Chad:

Interesting sounds you have there. I like the minimal approach - went especially well tonight with the background traffic noise from the nearby interstate.

Is that a brass instrument through a delay carrying the melody in "3 38"? The gender of the voice in "8 15" -- female?

When I have a computer connected to the internet that will run Flash without crashing the browser, I'll look at your videos. Wish I lived close enough to Normal to partake of your show in September.

Thank you for checking our music out. I'm glad you found it interesting :)

Yes, that is a trumpet in "3 38". We have an excellent multi-instrumentalist in the project, Jason Tucholke, who also happens to have great range in his singing voice as heard in "8 15".

I wish you could join us at the gig too! We are very much enjoying the live element of this music.

Take care,
Chad of Axion Theory

Another couple of recordings just now uploaded. Your feedback is welcome :)

"8 15" and "3 38"

Nobody's mentioned sampling yet, or running samples through software and hardware engines. You can get sounds via sampling that you'll never get with synthesis period.

Yes, one of my absolute favorite elements of music performance is grabbing sounds as they are being routed through my audio interface and looping and morphing them to create more more textures. I'm lucky to have one amazing vocalist with me with an appreciation for minimalism. His voice gives me something quite unique and at times i play the sounds of his voice as I would a synthesizer.

Another of our improvised recording sessions as a small album release, The Primakoff Effect.

Two 15 minute pieces, Phase One and Phase Two...

I value any comments and critiques. Though quite raw, I feel there are some quite interesting sections. Hope you enjoy :)

When I finally get a good control surface for my computer - I think I'll start falling in love with it as an instrument.

I very much like my Novation SL 25 :)

It's nice to not always have to look at the computer screen especially when performing.

In fact, I don't think I would trust an electronic musician who had never owned a keyboard synth!

Software just gives such a nice learning environment before deciding to make a purchase of real hardware. I think I've learned a lot from NI Massive and especially Reason with it's patching elements for sound and modulations. Now I am moving onto buy either an Access Virus TI Desktop or a TI Snow, though with the Total Integration element I may feel like I am still living somewhat in a soft synth world. But the sounds I hope will be more lush and luxurious.

Hello all, I'm Chad Brekke, a member of an experimental ambient project called Axion Theory.

I'd like to share a couple of our latest recording sessions with you and get your feedback on the sounds. We have yet to put together a proper collection of songs. The time will come.

Within the past few months we have begun to play some gigs at art galleries in our town.

Anyways... your feedback shall be valued greatly :)
