Pete,I think they allow the albums to be streamed in full for a limited amount of time now.

I agree with Ekstasis here, track three I thought is by far the best track of the four tracks on the album.  I haven't bought much of Steves' stuff over the past years, as his releases over that time, have to me, been disappointing, and this is no disrespect to Steve, they just haven't "grabbed me" like before. Having said that you can't blame him for trying something different, I  hope it works out for him :)

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Re: Recording music without a computer
« on: July 01, 2015, 04:37:17 AM »
Here are a couple of items as an alternative. I quite like the idea of the Zoom, as it can be used alone or with a computer, so kind of gives you the option of linking with the computer if you really need to. The Tascam also looks an impressive beast, and these are just a small selection of what is out there.

Personally I don't think I would leave a computer and DAW behind, I would just incorporate more hardware instruments into my set up.

Julio, do you think that maybe its the DAW you are using that isn't quite right for you?

Also Paul, if you pm me  the Oophoi needed titles I may be able to help with some of those.

It usually starts with me, by picking a sound or sounds that I like, and then I just play something, anything. I use Cubase Artist as my DAW and this has a really neat feature called retrospective record, which captures what you are playing even if you haven't hit the record button. ( Not sure if any other DAWS have this feature?) I have my keyboards set to different midi channels, so if I play something that I like at some point, it is there. Click on retrospective record and it appears on a track. I can then get rid of the rubbish and keep the bit or bits I like and then separate out the different midi channels onto separate tracks. I can then build upon what I have got.  I had tried in the past to set off with pre conceived ideas of how the piece should be, but it never seemed to work out that way in the end. So now I just take it as it comes, and see what happens.

Had a listen on BC to this over the last couple of evenings, very nice work and a nice looking package too. Going to put this on my BC wishlist and hopefully get the disc before they all go.

Kammarheit Unearthed 6 CD box set
Arrived today and I think I have gone to heaven :)

Finally got around to listening to this, really great work, added to my wish list, and need to check out your other releases at some point :)

Before I started to record and release music under the name of Phobos I used to record and release music under, well sort of, my real name. I released 3 cassette albums, Unknown Territory, Approaching The Light and Rainbows End, and 2 CDr albums, Enigmas and Beyond The Unknown Territory.
This music though, was completely different to the output of Phobos,
as it contains melody, rhythm and sequences, however you might find the odd hint of ambient and a splurge of spacemusic in there too!
Maybe they were subconscious signals for what was to follow many years later!

Now available for the first time as a digital download in a format of your choice, FLAC, MP3 etc, I present Enigmas together with Beyond The Unknown Territory. Also included is a bonus track which has never been released before.

All tracks are also individually downloadable, so of you donít fancy the whole release you can just pick 1or 2 tracks if you prefer.

You can listen/stream here:-

The best thing I've heard so far this year, ambient wise, is Enceladus by Sphare Secs.  Stunning deep outer space stuff.  As good if not better than their Tiefschlaf CD.  On Malignant Records.
That arrived the other day, I completely agree, stunning album.

Currently awaiting the arrival of Unearthed (6 CD Box set) by Kammarheit, now slightly delayed until mid April :'(

Good luck with this release, and thank you for the detailed information. It is always nice to see what other EM musicians are using. 8)

Everything and Nothing / Re: Forum software upgrade coming up

I really liked BlackDay also, as it is more akin to the Phobos way of thinking ;D, however I found the text at the top, ie the Home, Search, Profile and Logout etc, tabs very small, and the blue colour of the diamond on the left when there was a new post, could have done with being a bit more intense. I would definately use that one if those couple if things could be altered.
