Hey Julio...
I absolutely didn;t take it as critisism at all! Really appreciate the feedback!

4
The album will come out on Bandcamp on friday february 5th. The physical release will be later; (the artwork is at the printer right now). All the pieces are a lot longer btw, but the rendering of the animation takes ages! This animation took more than 2 months of rendering on 2 pc's ...24/7...

When I did my live-gigs I also used these fractal anmations... for an hour long gig it took 14 months of rendering.

So it was more a consideration of time to make a shorter edit of this piece.

Really happy to announce the upcoming release of my collaboration with Alio Die: The Garland of Dissolution!
The album will be out on Hic Sunt Leones.
Here's a fractal animation I made for promo of the music. Enjoy!

I never liked Ebow to be honest  :-\ By having to hold the thing in your hand you sacrifice the picking hand; You can for instance arpeggiate chords and then let the sustainiac-unit start to work. On the other hand with the Ebow you have the option to determin the distance of the Ebow to the pickup made different sounds possible. Choices, choises….

@ Julio: I would suggest to look into the Digitech Freqout… It's more like a sustainer/sustainiac/Infinite guitar in a box. A freeze-type pedal only holds the last note whereas the aforementioned devices are a lot more flexible. I have a Sustainiac built into my guitar.

Bought one of these pedals. Still trying it out, but the juries out on it at the moment...
Having used an ebow for years and recently acquired two sustainer guitars, this sounds a bit 'odd'. It doesn't do 'infinite' sustain, but sometimes it does something similiar. Will report back later after more perusals.

I'm afraid I didn't like this pedal at all. It's okay for single notes, but otherwise it's tracking is poor otherwise and it tends to sound very unnatural (like one of the clangers, for UK folk :)

@ Pete: Have you ever tried a sustainer/sustainiac? Though you can play more than one note at the time, it seems to prefer single notes (when you play a chord one note becomes dominant and the others fade away). It also depends on where on the neck you play how the notes evolve. It seems the Freqout is similair.

Hi Pete,
You're absolutely right regarding restraining .

Michael Brook was more or less the guy who invented the infinite guitar thing. From what I understood he more or less inspired the guy from Sustainiac to come up with his own design. Fernandez ordered several guitars with these pickups and copied (and patented) them…

I'm really heavily into ethnic music, mainly because of Michael Brook and Jon Hassell.

How do you find the Sustainiac pickup?  Schecter put it in some of there guitars I noticed.

About 25 years ago I played Chapman Stick and I wanted a sustainiac pickup on my instrument. I got hold of Allan Hoovers telephonenumber and gave him a call. He made a one off pickup/electronics set (since the Stick doesn;t have a body to put the electronics in he built me a seperate box). Later I put the whole lot in a guitar. I really can;t recommend Sustainiac enough; (also the fact that Fernandez more or less ripped them off with their sustainer-units makes me chose the Sustainiac).

The Digitech Freqout should be seen as an Ebow/Sustaniac in a box; it does't hold notes like a Freezeptype pedal, but since you mentioned Michael Brook it seems more appropriate.

I love Michael Brook btw! Escpecially Hybrid and Cobalt Blue.

For my ambientmusic I've always avoided lessons/theory; it's more a stream of consience kinda thing. But I did study Indian Classical Music for 15 years, and I'm sure a lot of that trickled down to my ambient stuff. I've tried to combine the two with disasterous results, in particular working together with other muscians (who were not very willing to step out their comfortzone of the raga). I also noticed that when I picked up my veena my hands aways tends to fall into a raga, simply because I was so drilled into that music.

So when I play ambientmusic it's more about getting Into The Zone, so to speak, rather then following rules or theory.

Cool insights here! I use guitar as a part of my music; I tend play/compose the soundscapes on guitar and add other elements like flute (for melodies and also extra scapes) and a homemade zither for accents/plunky stuff. On top of that I'll use Ableton for some percussion/spoken word/atmospherics. I also use Ableton as a effectprocessor/looper for my flutes and zither. The guitar is also used for melodic elements (I wouldn't call them solo's). I just released a live-recording of my gig at the 4th Ambient Festival in Paris with this setup (minus the zither).

My guitarsignal-chain:

Mooer compressor > ProCo Rat > Lehle Volume-pedal > Line6 Echopark > Boss RV3 > Digitech RP360 > Strymon Timeline (for delay/looping) > Neunaber Stereo Wet.

Hey guys,

I just finished a video of an edit version of a new song. I've spend the last 10 months or so rendering a 45 minute video for an upcoming concert in januari; the video will be used as a projection during the concert. I've made this video as a teaser/promo for the concert. Enjoy!

Hey guys,

Turmoil Music has released Watermusic a 3 track EP (digital download only) of yourstruly....
Watermusic is a bit of departure from my usual ambientmusic, since there are no guitars/loops on it. This time I concentrated on acoustic instruments like the soundbed (monochord) and zither. These recordings were manipulated in the PC and bells (and in one occasion whistles  ;D ) were added.

Enjoy...
