Messages - Resonant Drift

Pages: 1 [2]
I guess I may be in the minority but I really enjoyed the finale.  Also, I was fine with not getting all the answers.  I thought the ending had more meaning to discuss and I found that fun.

Could it all go back to when Desmond turned the key in Season 2 setting off all these events?

My first thought was the "sideways" world was the way it should have been if they never went to the island.  But it seems to be coming apart and seems to be more of a "dream world" or alternate reality as experienced by Desmond.  So now where is it all going?

Resonant Drift did the soundtrack for a short wilderness video by the talented Jim Karnik.  We did this quick collaboration as an experiment for possible future projects.

You have presented an extraordinarily and amazingly compelling argument.  A must read.  :)

I'm enjoying it quite a bit.  But I'm not sure what it would be like without watching Battlestar Galatica first.  More dramatic and gives the world(s) more background...kind of like Silmarillion did for Lord of the Rings.

True - good point.  It does seem hard to think how to wrap this up in 10 episodes or so.

Good episode but I'm not sure it was as big as the hype.  I kept expecting some major huge reveal but in typical Lost fashion we saw some progression but nothing that major.

Has anyone out there been watching the series Caprica?  I would be curious as to what some of you all think about it.

I hope the show ends in one of 2 ways.  One is like how Battlestar Galatica ended.  It answered most of the questions and more or less concluded the series.  The second might be like how the original Prisoner ended.  The questions definitely were not answered but the allegorical implications made it worth it (Number 6 is Number 1, we are all prisoners of ourselves).  If Lost still leaves questions unanswered that would be okay with me as long as there is some reason/theme/allegory.

Excellent points made by everyone here.  The only thing I would like to add is perhaps the state of music in general has changed.  I am friends with artists in more "popular" genres like rock and I can tell you sales and exposure are not what they used to be several years ago.  Basically, the independent artist has a much harder time making it than they did before.  It is like the "middle class" of music is vanishing.  I could be wrong but it seems like for even popular genres you are either a major artist or you are nothing.  Maybe ambient is just following this trend.

Again, I could be wrong but that's one thought I had.

My name is Bill Olien.  I was born in Wisconsin but raised all over living in several states including Wisconsin, Arizona and New York.  I served in the Air Force for 7 years.  I currently live in Southern California (Murrieta is the name of the City).  I work as an administrator in the local school district.  A very busy and stressful job that leaves less time for music than I would like.  I am married with one son who is 10.

Music has always been a passion and I love all types.  Some of my favorite artists include artists such as U2, Van Morrison, Son Volt, Beatles, Steve Roach.  I have been a fan of electronic music since the early 80s but it has only been in the last couple years that I got serious about doing some of my own.  A few months ago I connected with another ambient artist and we are working on a CD together.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / New CD release soon

Resonant Drift will soon release a new CD titled "The Call"  Resonant Drift is now a duo with added musician Gary Johnson.  The CD mastering and sonic enhancements were done by Steve Roach so we are excited about how it turned out.  We used synthesizers, guitars, ethnic instruments and wildlife recordings all blended together.

The CD is off at the duplication facility but until it is officially released you can hear some of the tracks in the MySpace player at:

Hey all,

I don't post that often.  I am, however, quite engaged in the postings and enjoy everything.  I apologize for that.  I'm just not one to post too often.  But I will try more often.

I'm working on some new material.  If you want to listen you can download the track at my MySpace page.  It is the first track in the player and it is titled "Understand Now"
