Hi Forrest,

Yes it's my wood case design but it's on a whole other level. First, the cd is actually manufactured instead of a home made cdr. Second, the cover stamp uses a high end Japanese ink made for wood. It's very crisp and looks like it was printed onto the wood versus a stamp. The artwork throughout was created by Brendan Dooley who created the artwork for Villa Galaxia. It comes with an internal satin finished professionally printed track card that's signed with the case number. I'll have images posted right before the Star's End show.

The music will be available on Itunes and Emusic etc. but I wanted to have something special for those who prefer a collectible.

Anyone closet Empire of the Sun fans? I really enjoy the sci fi novel look and the music is great. The youtube video is pretty fun also. I was curious, Deepspace, are these guys popular in Australia?

My kids LOVE this tune.

Hi guys,

Ya, I thought it was very interesting. 9dragons, it's a new song from a new album!

Oh, the video was created around the music. Very simple cell phone camera like imagery.

A video of sky lanterns set to some of my music. I think the results are pretty interesting!

Thanks Lena! I also think kids are the ULTIMATE test of your dedication to your art (that is if it's not your main source of income as then it's your job!).  I remember meeting so many people who would tell me they use to play music or paint but had to give it up when they had children because there wasn't any time. After kids, you really have to search for the time to keep your art going. It's tough but not impossible and it makes you a better artist as it's a wall you have to climb.

One hand on a fader and the other on a diaper!

Ha! I just put my kids to bed and red this post. Ya, the house is constantly messy. For some reason my kids love scotch tape. I find it everywhere. There's a chunk of it on my sock as I write this!

We were married 9 years before we had our first girl. We hadn't planned on having kids but it just kind of felt right at the time. My personal feeling is that your heart has an extra cavity of love that wakes up the day your first child arrives. You don't know you have it until that day and it never goes away. It's an awakening of sorts I guess and you would never miss it unless you had a child. The more children you have the more your heart awakes.

I do believe this is why those who are less fortunate tend to have lots of kids because it's a fascinating beautiful pleasure even if the world is sinking around you.

Hi Everyone, I've replaced my old radio page with a new "viral" widget. it contains over 1 hour of music spanning 13 years. This widget also includes unreleased material and a new 5 minute Echoes Radio audio blog about Villa Galaxia. Best of all, because itís a viral widget, you can place it on your personal Facebook or Blog page, send it to friends as an email, or download it onto your mac dashboard or vista desktop. Pass it around!

Thanks so much,

What a great song! And, the talk box is such a cool design. Nothing better then a silver box, one handle, and a mouth tube.

I mean, really, the whole thing is so eccentric. It's totally out of it's time.

How cool Deepspace. I still haven't received my promo copy. I actually can't remember what the piece sounds. I have it on a dvd somewhere but I thought I would wait to hear it in the game.

good catch. Corrected!  See you there Forrest.

Thanks everyone! My piece of music is in the Sporepedia part of the game. I don't have my copy yet so I don't know what area this is.

The cool thing Is I had no idea they actually kept the music I wrote for the game. Once I heard Eno was involved I thought that was it. Plus, they totally stopped asking for revisions. I was truly shocked today to find the piece made it all the way until the end and furthermore that they put me in the credits. I actually can't even remember what the song sounded like but I do remember them asking me to make it more strange and noisy. Go Figure! Anyway you look at it it's great publicity. Here in The Bay Are there's a huge ad campaign going on for the game.

Forrest, I did get paid nicely for my time and I get my own free copy of the game!

Hi Everyone, any gamers here who've been playing the game Spore?

About 2 years ago, I got a chance to work on the sound development for this game. I worked for about a month coming up with some initial concepts for them. Then, Mr. Brian Eno decided to come in and take the job right out of my hands. :)  Well, I just received an email from Spore telling me that my original sketches made it into the final game. So, if any of you are playing Spore, I'm happy to tell you that the background music in the "sporepedia" element of the game, is not Brian Eno, as many will assume, but is one of the original long form compositions I composed for the game!

music for people

Celebrating its 11th Anniversary, this festival is a celebration of new and unusual explorations in music and performance. Central to the event is music created using made and/or found instruments, or utilizing odd tuning systems.

Please see the following urls for times and locations:

Everything is free

I should clarify that there's 3 minutes of extra music on Villa Galaxia versus mp3's available online.  Not sure what I was thinking when I wrote 10 minutes.  ???

Yes, usually it takes a long time to post. No biggie. It's nice you're talking about the album and I've been dying to hear peoples thoughts. Mike and I had a lot of conversations about mp3s and fact of the mater is most Hypnos customers are here for cds and most emusic customers don't buy cds so it's really two types of listeners. It's really cool that you found it so quick on Emusic!

About Ulrich Schnauss - I think what Deepspace is saying is that Villa Galaxia runs parallel to Schnauss' work perhaps because it's upbeat melodic instrumental music that happens to be electronic. When you think about it, there's not much melodic instrumental electronic music out there right now. I have "Far Away Trains Passing by" and can get about a 3rd of the way through it before I turn it off due to agreeing to some of Undershadow's comments on technique.  On the other hand, most of the time it's really hard to tell one artist from another in this genre and you can pick out a U Schnauss song from the rest. There's something to that!
