Just listened on Bandcamp.
Not a typical long form drone piece at all, but quite "melodic" actually. It's beautiful. Beautiful tones, harmonies and atmosphere. Yet I still feel there is some untapped potential. I think a piece like this could benefit from being just a little less repetitive and just a little more advanced in its harmony and development without losing its ambient, atmospheric qualities. Somewhere in between music that's born from the moment and music that is thoroughly composed like classical music. Or maybe I'm asking for the impossibe.

But what's even more amazing is the music itself. This particular composer takes a lot of time with his music to unfold. It took many listens over the course of 2 years before I could fully understand and appreciate this glorious 1,5 hour symphony, of which the adagio is the beating heart. It was very much worth getting into and at the end of this journey is a live performance that I'm going to hear in a month from now.

Anton Bruckner - Symphony No. 8, Adagio

Once every few days should work.

Alexander Scriabin - The Poem of Ecstasy
Pretty much my favorite piece of music.

The finale always knocks me off my socks. When I heard it live my life was complete, for a moment. :)
As one of the youtube commenters put it: "The vastness of space, the flight of photons, billions of billions of galaxies: its all there in one final explosion of sound."

He didn't say you have to listen to that 1 song continuously. :)

Goatrance. Laughing Buddha - Karma (1997)

It's old but still one of my favorites for that high octane kaleidoscopic feeling.

I posted this in the currently listening thread once, but it deserves to be posted again if we're talking about 80s vibes:

^ Very nice indeed. I like the 80ies vibes.

I quite like this one too, especially in combination with the clip which is beyond cool:

Tetsu Inoue - Inland , having had the iTunes download for years finally got the silver disc for Christmas.

Stunningly beautiful ambient mastery of the highest order . Wherever you are Tetsu I hope all is well.

I so agree. Tetsu Inoue is (was?) truly one of the finest artists in the entire world of ambient music. Inland is a masterpiece. Such a unique style, so intimate, subtle, warm and fuzzy in a very pleasant way.

Samples of Spiral Revelation are nice, but also a partial rehash of older material. Anyway, he does that a lot and if the idea is to create a sort of connectivity and continuity between albums then that's cool I guess. Love the piano that appears on the first track.

Klaus Schulze - Moondawn

Floating, forever one of the greatest moments in electronic music, is a troubled recording, for the perfect version does not exist.
The original CD release has way too much reverb, but the added mellotron choir is a very nice touch, while the original master/rerelease of Moondawn is a little too dry to my tastes and lacks the lovely mellotron.

Absolutely wonderful melodic vocal trance. It's just too good.

And another banging tune:

Steve Roach & Vir Unis - Blood Machine

A favorite. Still fresh enough. "Sense" is amazing.

I think there were plans to do a re-release on Atmoworks.com. I'm pretty sure I've read about it years ago. Too bad it never happened.

Bump.
Not a big fan of this album either. It's nice but just not very convincing and I don't like the wailing guitar. Some of the sequences are nice though and I do love the last track!

I agree Yearning is one of his best, along with Trances/Drones, Numena, Soma, Stalker, Fissures.

Music doesn't get any better than this, period. It just takes time to hear it. :)
