I have come to the conclusion most of the ambient music I like most have e-bowed guitars...
Feel free to recommend me albums with a lot of e-bow..

I can really recommend these two albums, they are among my favourite ambient albums. Both are mesmerizing 5 star albums.
Psychedelic ambient music.

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Schmidt Synthesizer

What incredible beauty, and what a sound..on the sound demos on youtube you can really hear how fat it sounds..

Everything is good though besides the price which is insane!
Too bad it did not have a more reasonable price tag it would had been an amazing success..
It is pretty much the analogue dream synth, digitally controlled. Both Moog and Oberheim fitlers.

Has any one tried it ?  I guess what makes it most interesting is the price point, it is cheaper then the Access Virus
but this is true analogue.

Everything and Nothing / Regarding the Lost Island
« on: February 18, 2014, 07:05:37 AM »
When the Lost TV series did air on Television, I did dream away how wonderful it would had be to experience such journey and to live on the island.. I think the series has had a quite big impact on me...made me dream away..of a different life..far beyond this one.

I read they did shout the series on for different islands... I wish it all was on one island, so you could go and visit all the places where they did shot the series, the under ground tunnels, the water falls, the station bunker, if it all was there I could consider maybe 1 year or so of my life there.. to just reflect on existence and life in general and found "inner peace and new power" and dream away from this western world and system we are stuck in.

This album is probably the "ultimate" album for just pure audio candy. Supreme sound quality in general...

New album by steve roach and kelly david is released

"THE LONG NIGHT is a deep-breathing sigh of the eternal nocturnal: gossamer atmospheres for the still hours of the night. Focusing on non-rhythmic, textural-harmonic electronic soundscapes, this collaboration unfurls like slow-moving, moonlit clouds. Although THE LONG NIGHT leaves the lighted world behind, its midnight path leads to a state of gleaming serenity and calmness. This music is contemplative, though not brooding: a meditative environment filled with open spaces and tendrils of sound composed of shifting subtle moods and gleaming electronic passages.

The collaboration began during several late night sessions at Kelly David's Denver studio, where the two artists carved-out the basic tracks using only analog modular instruments. The sonic palette expanded when the recording moved to Steve's Arizona Timeroom studio, bringing in a deeper textural quality utilizing processed acoustic sounds and an expanded collection of analog and digital synthesizers, plus subtle outboard processing. The final mix by Steve further uncovers a dimensional depth, delivering on the subtle and intricate tones of David's and Roach's years of journeying the ambient night skies through the long nights.

THE LONG NIGHT is a sixty-one minute mental excursion into unforeseen creative possibilities when the night becomes a special time beyond sleep, a contemplative zen noir of minimal radiant ambience."

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / AKG K812 "SUPERIOR REFERENCE HEADPHONES"
« on: January 31, 2014, 08:35:38 PM »

I am asking myself the question , should I buy the k812 and save up for them ? is it the ultimate studio headphone for music production ?

my DT880 does not deliver the sparkly high end for ambient music that I have in my k240 studio.
I am happy with my DT880 for other styles of music but the high end is very saturated...

I have heard a lot of good things about K812, usually AKG have had their strengths and weaknesses, but
this headphones seem to getting good feedback and seem to be more balanced through the whole spectrum...

The minus side is...they are very very expensive...I wonder how the price curve will develop during the next coming months..or if we can expect this pricing staying like this for a longer period.

The k812 seem to on the outside to have much in common with the K701 and K702 but in fact it has nothing in common complete new design and driver.

This was the only recording I made with the Oberheim Xpander, it consist of very old school 70s electoronica berlin school... similar to schulze and schönwälder.

Another real time improvisation from 2010, with no after treatment or anything just recording as it is.

What I wanted to achieve was something similar to steve roach drones, experimenting with
some pitch shifters.  I think I also used Lexicon Reverb for this..not sure Could had been ARIESVerb too..which sound kind of similar.

I did this improvisation in 2009.

My promise for 2014 is to record more music...I have better gear and tools now..
I am trying to remember what reverb I did use..I think it was Masterverb by wavearts.

I really hope they will do a album again, their sounds did merge so perfectly, and they did produce one of the most deepest album ever the Terraform album...

I like to listen to ambient at work, I like Drone zone with soma.fm but but the problem is that bit rate is too low..
Is there any ambient channels with better sound quality ?

I bring my DT1350 headphones and Go Vibe V7 headphone amp to work.
