Another real time improvisation from 2010, with no after treatment or anything just recording as it is.

What I wanted to achieve was something similar to steve roach drones, experimenting with
some pitch shifters.  I think I also used Lexicon Reverb for this..not sure Could had been ARIESVerb too..which sound kind of similar.

I did this improvisation in 2009.

My promise for 2014 is to record more music...I have better gear and tools now..
I am trying to remember what reverb I did use..I think it was Masterverb by wavearts.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Steve Roach and Loren Nerell

I really hope they will do a album again, their sounds did merge so perfectly, and they did produce one of the most deepest album ever the Terraform album...

I like to listen to ambient at work, I like Drone zone with soma.fm but but the problem is that bit rate is too low..
Is there any ambient channels with better sound quality ?

I bring my DT1350 headphones and Go Vibe V7 headphone amp to work.

Good news Windows start menu will be back in windows 8.2 as a optional choice.

Well..they should had done it under the 1 year beta period .

Dell will release a 4K monitor 24 inches soon which have very attractive price point, as a response to that Asus did lower a price of their 32 inch asus monitor with about 1 third of the price...well.. the price war is on..
I think 2014 will be the year I jump from 1008p to 4k...

It will make a huge difference, unles 4k tvs, 4k will actually make a dramatic difference cause you watch it from short distance.

Everything and Nothing / What TV do you have ? Plasma/LCD/OLED other ?
« on: December 04, 2013, 11:40:25 PM »
Show us your television, are you happy with it, which tv do you want to buy... ?

I got the second last Plasma generation ever (panasonic did stop making plasma 2013)
The ST50, I got the 55 inch model.
ST50 was rated as the best TV in 2012 by Cnet, after extensive research I did buy it.
It did not look mindblowing in the store, but in a dark room the screen did really come to life.
Very deep blacks and great contrast and colors. I am 100% happy with the buy. I had a sony triniton tv 32 inch before that..
I hold patiently myself of buying a new tv for many years, I did not like LCD,  and I know OLED was around the corner reading about different breakthroughs some years before 2012,  I was ready to sacrifice about 5300 dollars for a OLED tv because I have waited so long and I had stood out with this crap tv for about 10 years and not jumping on the flat tv train until 2012.. in lat 2011, LG did leak the pricing of their upcoming OLED to be released in Q1 of 2013, the price did turn out to be about twice as expensive as I had planned to sacrifice,  I did quickly realize I will have to wait atleast 4-5 years until they reach humane levels so I quckily decide I have to buy something that is available on the market... I new Plasma did share many of the qualities of OLED technology. So I bought one, LCD was never really a choice..

My old TV was a crt,  triniton, it had amazing contrast and blacklevel, but the only thing that was missing was really the HD resolution.  so when I got my Panasonic it took some time to get used to the HD resolution, it was totally mindblowing, and the first weeks I consider one of the best in my life...

In a few years I hope OLED technology will be more common and also more affordalble, I am very sure I will get the same feeling I got with my plasma when I get an OLED TV..it is a totally new level...

My dream tv... The 55 inch LG. But honestly, I will keep my plasma for at least 4 more years most likely..

Everything and Nothing / Show us your Smartphone/Cell Phone
« on: December 01, 2013, 12:11:08 PM »
The smartphones has since some years now become and increasingly more important part of our daily lives, some people might even call it the third part of our brain...

So what smartphone do you have right now ?
Which phone would you buy today if you could ?

I know in the Ambient music...compressor is not exactly the most used tool...for many reasons..
mostly due it's artifacts..
This is a compressor for the people who do not like compressors due it is artifacts...
For me personally this will be an easy buy the exact type of compressor I am looking for..
very clean and transparent.  more like a "leveler" then a compressor.

Not to complain or anything but is there any specific reason why the default theme of the forum is the default obviously there is themes that looks way better IMO.
I think not many people are aware that you can change it...it kind of hard to see it... Maybe one should be informed during sign up ?

For your information there is only about 10 people of 806 that use the other themes.

I wonder really, how many % of the forum members are artists themselves seem to be a forum for artists for sure :)

I have not been here since 2009 little bit  sad to see that it is a lot less activity here now..where did people go ?

Personally I have been listening to less ambient the last few years I must admit, there is a lot less good ambient released in my opinion.
And ever since Steve Roach did move to his new home and new studio I do not think he have produced any amazing stuff to be honest..
Same goes with Robert Rich he have not released much good last few years, but I must admit the Nest album was really good.

Anyway I hope more people come back it is a nice community for sure. quite unique.

Jeff Greinke have a new album out..I have not heard it yet..

https://itunes.apple.com/se/album/scenes-from-a-train/id641509875

He also did a soundtrack for the film "Oil and water" I can deeply recommend this film!
It is among the most mesmerizing audio visual experience I have seen... the bad thing is it is only 21 minutes long...
