Hypnos Label Releases / Re: RELEASE: Steve Brand - Avatara
« on: May 06, 2011, 11:09:29 AM »
"Avatara" CD just arrived today and I am absolutely impressed, it's a real masterwork, both musically and visually!!! Big thanks and congratulations to Steve and all others involved!!! Also I would like to thank to Mike & Lena for releasing Steve's work in this format, I think it's well deserved for Steve to have his music available as pressed CD with nice digipak packaging. Please keep on going, guys!!!

Thank you, Mike! I am very glad to know you will keep this packaging format for the future releases, I just received "Avatara" CD and it looks absolutely magnificent!!! I can imagine this packaging is more expensive, so I hope there will be still enough people to support your label, artists and releases and you will be able to keep this format as long as possible. For me, it's a great pleasure to be one of them. Thank you and all the best to all of you... :)

Hi guys, I just did a little review on "Distant Shadows" for Discogs, so I hope it's possible to post it here:

Anthony Paul Kerby and Tomas Weiss "Distant Shadows" CD

Both, Anthony Paul Kerby and Tomas Weiss, are known as frequent collaborators with other musicians like Robert Davies or Mathias Grassow for example, but this is their first co-work and also premier release on new founded Construct label run by Anthony and Tomas (but both of them run also few other labels). I was immediately catched by the stunning images on the digipak's artwork (photographs by Anthony and by Jesse Harrison) and very soon I realized they fit perfectly the sonics as well as the title of the album. "Distant Shadows" album delivers trully immersive drifting soundworlds evoking remote and spacious landscapes surrounded by dense fog. It opens with shorter title track "Distant Shadows" that sets the drifting atmosphere for the rest of this expansive journey. "Gathering Memories" keeps its slow-motion floating, but it's nicely colored on the background by some organic and industrial field-recordings. Deep, dark and immense, definitely the first highlight! But it goes on, the pure beauty of minimal oriented textures fully unfolds on 13-minute long piece "Eternal Return", magnificent! Nice peaceful, but monumental moody soundwalls with environmental recordings continue on "Everything That Can Be Said". Dense "Deep Time" is gradiose too! "Figures On A Dark Background" is the most organic piece although it features some beautiful and evocative heavenly choirs and voices. As the title also suggests, this is the most mysterious contribution on "Distant Shadows". "A Final Vision" returns to more drifting mode with a hint of dramatic passages, nice finale! "Distant Shadows" is delicate drone music and not only a deep listening experience, but also a highly relaxing one too!!! It's hard to exactly distinguish what Anthony and what Tomas brought to the table, but I don't care about this, because whatever it was, I liked it. Well done teamwork, Anthony & Tomas, and a very promising overture for Construct label!!!

Hi Tomas, I wish I could be in Athens during the Wednesday... :(  Have a great and enjoyable event and stay in Greece, just the same for the rest of Databloem gang!!! By the way, your "Distant Shadows" co-work with Anthony is magnificent, I just did a little review on it, so I will try to post it here. All the best... :)

Hi Eelke, welcome at Hypnos, it's really nice to meet you on this forum. I just got your "Resonating Earth" and "The Child Set Free" CDs, so I can't wait to explore some darker soundworlds from The Lowlands. Met vriendelijke groet... :)

Hi Loren, thanks a lot for all your updates, nice to see you active with several projects. I definitely will stay tuned for upcoming "Intangible" CD. Regarding your live set at SoundQuest Fest, I am one of those who have missed this great event, so I would really appreciate your decision to release it on CD format, I really hope it will be possible. All the best from Slovakia... :)

Thank you for your update, Tomas, I really look forward to "Distant Shadows"!!! All the best... :)

Yes, agree with Seren, nice digipak, good job, Mike!!! I think I prefered more uncoated silver disc, but no problem with accepting this one. Maybe the white surface fits better the album title. In any case, I will be ordering it very soon.

Hi Scott, now after reading your nice preview words on "A Quiet Light", I am even more excited. I didn't listen to any excerpts as I want to be fully surprised when the CD arrives into my mailbox and I think there is no need to listen to them when it goes to artists like Meg Bowles. Have an enjoyable time when talking with Meg on your radio show!

I ordered my copy of "A Quiet Light" too and I can't wait to hear it!!! Time is running very fast, already 12 years passed since the wonderfully evocative "From The Dark Earth" album. So I think many of us are really looking forward to Meg's new work.

I think this is great news for all those who have followed Meg Bowles during the 90's. At the end of February Meg released on her own Kumatone Records fifth album, "A Quiet Light" CD. Maybe Meg will post more news on this forum, until then feel free to find out more on:

Welcome back, Meg, and all the best... :)

That should be no problem. I was in the same situation and ordered mine from Stefano with a few other releases and he put those releases into the box instead of the original ones...

Yes, just the same for me as mentioned by Wanterkeelt, so get in contact with Stefano and I am sure he will find some reasonable solution for you.

Hi headonist, if you can get the "Castles Sonorisation's Series" Box Set, go for it, I think Stefano has still available some of them. Each one comes with unique mosaic and packaged in handmade box, I can only recommend it to each collector and Alio Die fan!!!

Hi Joe R,

Oophoi's "Time Fragments" Box Set was released several weeks ago by Practising Nature/Databloem, I think it was around January 14th. I also have posted small announcement about it on this forum at the same day. Link:

http://www.hypnos.com/smf/index.php?topic=3624.msg27900#msg27900

Unfortunately, the Box is most likely sold out already, but all 7 component pro CD-Rs of this set are available by Hypnos. For those living in Europe, CD-Rs are available by Databloem or directly from Gigi/Oophoi as signed copies.

All the best.
