Now Playing / Re: Too much music?
« on: June 29, 2012, 07:13:36 AM »
I know the problem. I've been collection music for the last 10 years, and since I evolved from a narrow-headed metal fan to genres like metal, ambient, Berlin School, folk and neofolk, dub techno, classic and so on, the collection has been growing and growing and growing... Fortunately there's Discogs to manage the collection.
Financially there's no problem but spacewise, it's getting a bit difficult....
But I don't see a near end, I'm too much a music addict.

E=Motion - Hypnotic Sequences
Driftin' Thoughts - Secret Dimensions

I'm not sure how to categorize this: 80s Tangerine Dream ?

Robert Rich & Alio Die - Fissures CD

Alio Die & Amelia Cuni - Apsaras CD

Do you like Apsaras so far ? I have never really got into that album. The sound seems different to what I expect from Alio Die....

Hi, can you recommend any music very similar to Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project ? I love all four albums.
Beats are welcome.

Thanks

And according to Discogs, there's 4 new Oöphoi reissues on Practising Nature:

PN11045   Oophoi - Signals From The Great Beyond 2 (CDr, Album, RM, RE)
PN11046   Oophoi - Signals From The Great Beyond 3 (CDr, Album, RM, RE)
PN11047   Oophoi - Three Lights At The End Of The World (CDr, Album, RM, RE)
PN12048   Oophoi - Night Currents (CDr, Album, RM, RE)

But they aren't to be found on the Databloem site.

Does anyone know a bit more ?

Thanks
Mirko

Hey thanks Thomas, but I'm an eager Treetrunk anyway, so I have those releases.
The mentioned Tange stuff could also fit into your Constant series.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Any opinions on TANGE ?
« on: October 25, 2011, 05:36:49 AM »
Hi, I recently fell in love with the album "A Tub Full of Tange" released on Earth Mantra netlabel. It's a compilation of live performances by Tange on Stillstream radio. 11 hours of nice ambient music. I listen to it when I prepare my history lessons, it's so great if I need solace after a day full of stress.
It's become my favourite ambient album. But in fact, is this ambient or drone ? Or both ? ;)

36
I guess I arrived too late :(

Or does anyone know a place where I can still get the CDR, not the MP3 ?

37
I do agree. Great packaging, but the music is quite a rip-off for me. 35€ for that sh** was way too much.

I paid $55 for this album.  There was little to no information, only that it was limited to 100 copies--pressed CD, in hardbound book-style digipak.  Great packaging, I have to admit.  The sound samples on the website were excellent.  Only problem is (which I was not aware of), 54 minutes of this 60 minute CD is one repeating loop, which sounds like a cue ball breaking in a game of pool.  (They should've called it "Pool Room"?)  There's even a round ball on the cover artwork that coulud be a cue ball.  Is this a hint??? Well OK, actually in the loop there is a cool low-drone and cicadas sounds, so it isn't just the cueball.  The 6 minutes of actual music is EXCELLENT! Some great steel cello stuff like on the "Wouivre" CD, and some KW keyboard drones.  But these tracks are like only two minutes apiece.  Then they fade out and it's back to somebody playing pool for 30 minutes.  I think the cueball stuff would've been cool as a 10-min. opener and/or closer, but 54 minutes of it is a bit much.  Can you medidate to this album?  I don't know, I'll have to try it out.  8)

Ordered mine today :)
Yes we definitely need more reissues of Mathias Grassow. There is plenty of stuff that was only available on CDRs without artwork...

That's great news. I really enjoyed the first two dreamings. I love such longform music
