Art and Literature, Movies and TV / Re: Movie trailers worth a look
« on: February 10, 2012, 12:32:49 PM »
I don't know anything about this movie, but the trailer looks interesting, with a kind of "Cloverfield" feel to it due to it being home video.

Saw this last weekend. Really well done, character-driven piece. You have to ignore the gaping "So who put all this footage together" question, but if you've already accepted telekinetic teens as a go, then it's not too much further to accepting that. The shooting style works and the acting is solid. I love that the writers didn't feel they needed to stop and over-explain where the powers came from. We know what these kids know, and that's enough to go forward. Well worth seeing!

I thought some of the science part of it went 'South' towards the end of the movie considering at the beginning they were supposed to be indestructible so how is it they went from being indestructible to dying???
just my .02 cents though:).....

yep..that's what it sounds like the video processor chip is going bad that processes the HDMI ports on the TV..
I have read a lot of this happening on the hi-def forum I visit regularly...

I agree with Mike...buy a new TV, esp a new Panasonic plasma tv

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: CDs, bye-bye
« on: November 07, 2011, 07:34:40 PM »
One thing I think that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that any streaming or downloaded file will not have the full spectrum of audio glory that one can hear on a true cd. I know that people say with .Flac and other losseless bit of audio that can be downloaded or streamed, but to my ears as a mixing and mastering engineer, I truely think people are going to end up losing a lot of the audio depth one can enjoy from a cd or for that matter if DVD-audio had taken off, the true 24 bit full audio one could enjoy from DVD with complete surround sound:)...

I definitely prefer watching more and more movies at home due to the rising costs of tickets, drinks, rude people, etc..
but I also think besides the large screen HDTV one needs to have a great surround sound system to mimic the theater so one can truly enjoy the theater experience at home, esp. on Blu-ray:)

Plus..I love the fact, need to pause to go have a bathroom break:)

It is sad when a great fellow ambient musician among us departs this reality and leaves us with great music to remember him by..
I know when we lost Jim, I was torn up by his loss for a few days since we collabrated on albums together as, Orion's Belt.
But always know and feel that his music will always be with us...

Long time no see....Welcome back Jeff...

Way to go Mike....
that was a great story......hope to see many more stories from you in the future:)...

BTW..I have to ask, how do you juggle music and writing at the same time???
for me to concentrate on my writing, I had to put my music on the back burner for now ....
you sir, are an awesome man...

yes, definitely I think we have hit the technology wall to where we are so overwhelmed that we get stress in our lives just trying to keep up with it all:)
