Everything and Nothing / question
« on: July 20, 2009, 05:28:35 PM »
i used an ebow on my electric bass and - wow - it blew me away! the feedback around the electric pick up is quite vibrant, to say the least.
have any of you tried this? and do you have a bit of a problem getting the E string to work with the ebow? i also used a violin bow and the E works but not much of an effect. the G string is amazing with the vbow.

this is a great movie. while, like all the hp movies, it is missing much of the book it is very entertaining and captures the gist of the book. i loved every minute!

ghost words is a tad avant garde. the other 3 are right in line with the releases you mention. they are available through rst's site -

very cool, my friend. very cool indeed!

rst is an underappreciated artist - totally! he has 4 new releases - mantra, ghost words, glod flowers bloom mercury petals, motets for michalengelo - that are absolutely amazing works by a true musical genius. i recommend each one highly. (see a review of mantra in another thread.)

this flick is absolutely hilarious. it is not your typical geek/hot girl movie although there are similarities. basically, like the hangover, this is better than i thought it would be.

this is one of the funniest movies i have ever seen. i think i laughed for 80% of the movie. not your typical party flick.

'Greatest Sporting event of the Year' - not for me.

I'd rather watch 'drunk football' or the 'drug-enhanced olympics'. I think they'd be much more
interesting. :)

Come on now Pete, you're not getting into the real spirit of the Tour. Everyone knows that bicycle racing is the most 'drug-enhanced' sport in the world today.  :D ;D
whoa, whoa, whoa! more drug enhanced than professional baseball?

for some odd reason i have not had any timeliness issues with any cd's i have ordered online. someone on another thread complained about backroads. lloyd shipped more quickly than anyone - or at least as quickly. right now mike is as quick as anyone - so yay mike!

Backroads in Corte Madera, CA finally gone? That's the BEST thing I've heard this year.
Lloyd was a Royal thief! sending me CDs he said were new and I do forensic DNA and
saw scuff marks where it had been played in a CD player and he thought I was stupid?
I'm laughing myself silly about this idiot out of business finally.

well, if you mistrusted him so much that you had to do forensic dna on the discs, why did you do business with him at all? did you tell him that the discs had been played? is it possible that someone sold them to him as new and he trusted them?
lloyd barde is as fine gentleman as i have ever met and a good friend. he never steered me wrong and i wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors!

i recently picked up ocean's 11, 12 and 13. 11 and 13 are very cool and quite slick. 12 is a tad sluggish and slow. however, czj adds tremendous pizazz to any movie she graces so it's ok.
i really dig the series in general. lots of fun to watch.

There was some great "dark electronic" music by Wendy Carlos in the 1980 film "The Shining."   :-*
really? i did not know that. i do know that she did some deep dark stuff for a clockwork orange.

lucette is a brilliant artist. the only surprise is that someone is shocked that she topped herself again!

after watching band of brothers several times i bought the book and the memoirs of dick winters (beyond band of brothers) and buck comptom (call of duty) as well. they are all excellent and every bit as compelling as the movie. buck's story is particularly amazing including his prosecution of sirhan sirhan for the  assassination of robert kennedy.

whoa! mike! this is some serious gray ambience. i love the dirges and the melancholy drones. superb stuff!

downloading it now - looking forward to more new music. it has been a pretty good month for new stuff - so far. there are even 2 more days!
