I'm very excited about the new season - what a fantastic thing.

The new season will end with "see you in 25 years" ...  hahahahaha

Mine arrived yesterday - I saw it briefly (long enough to check it was not damaged etc) before Glenys whisked it away to be wrapped until Christmas.....

That's just kind of evil!   ;D

Since we both posted... we may have to ask Mike to ban us all.

You should see the original cover proofs.

Tomas - hey, no problem!  Can't count the number of times I've misread something.

I cross-posted this thread over on Relaxed Machinery and want to cross post ours over here... most of us are at both - but a few aren't... so here you go!

Many of the studios are in both threads.

drone on...  I can answer the Vir Unis question as he's an old friend (since teens).  He's semi-active on Facebook - and is about to release The Book of Mutations 2 after a long break from releasing ambient.

Posted Oct 22 by John / Vir:  "This a 20+ minute preview of an upcoming Vir Unis album on AtmoWorks. I plan to work with some very talented and creative musicians on this throughout this Autumn and Winter. It's s continuation of Book of Mutations, which can be purchased at store.atmoworks.com "

El Culto - the "extreme" comment is about David Sylvian, not Steve Roach.

Loren Loren Loren...  I love your studio.   :-*

Inoue's been missing for a couple of years or more now.  Phonaut's post on it from 2012:  http://phonaut.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/where-is-tetsu-inoue/

The last paragraph explains why Phonaut would be one of the people to likely know and be concerned.

I thought I saw a mention of Thom Brennan somewhere - but I can't recall it now.

Steve Roach is alive and well.  And planning more releases.  He decided to take a few days off after Bloodmoon before forging ahead.

APK knows more on this than I do... and his description was perfect and more detailed than I could do.  I can usually tell by the burn lines and often by what's etched into the center plastic part of the disc.  Usually CD's have info on plant and CDR's have a much different looking bit of info there.

Wonderful desk!  Love how it keeps clutter out and all the gear right there easily accessible.  I have the problem of desk on one end of the room - everything else... on the other end problem... hahahahaha.

I doubt Sam burned them at home and most likely they went to a manufacturer.  It's *extremely* common especially for lower quantity runs.

However, it should be in the release listing when you buy it so you know exactly what you're getting.

Humorous story - at least a decade ago I bought a release from someone I knew enough to email - and when I got it it was the best looking CDR I'd ever seen. Gorgeous - but still a CDR.  So I sent him a note saying it was one of the best cdr's I'd seen great job! - and he called me back and said - how the heck did you know?  So I explained the tell tale signs of CD vs CDR to him... he changed the listing to say pro-cdr.  :-)  He had also underestimated the importance not thinking it was that big of a deal -I told him with me it wasn't - but with some fans they'll rake you over the coals for misleading them.

The really horrible thing to me is I can't remember if I've heard of the site or not.  I'm not sure.  I think I have.

Sorry you're losing a site you enjoy and pay for.

Aren't most of their label releases at least available to download?  I understand doing a small run CD release and that selling out fast - they have a fairly rabid following.  But I thought most of the Echospace label releases were still available digital.  (not as good for CD fans.. I know...)

Sorry - I was asking about a few releases not on Echospace but under the Echospace and/or Deepchord name.  I misread your post...   I don't have a good answer.

Sometimes the blank slate is worse though... when there are infinite possibilities... the blank slate can be very daunting.  I understand both ends of this ... beginning and finishing being issues for different people.

I talked to Rod about it and he said many of the labels they release with insist on limited numbers and don't allow digital sales (I wanted downloads of some of the stuff!).  Yes - I find it frustrating.  I hate limited editions where there's no "normal version" and I especially hate when it's not on digital.

I totally understand the vinyl versions - but let the rest of us hear it too!  :-)

I would _not_ follow me on this...  I use APC and some similar "upper end boxstore strips".
