Just wanted to say it is great to read discussions talking about musicians I know nothing about - don't stop talking....

Mathias Grassow does have a huge discography - two of my favourites are Dissolution (very dense music) and True North with Amiri Baghiri.
you may also like Upuaut (with Oophoi and Baghiri), Sphere, Space and Eclipse.

I'll have to check those out. Oophoi is another one whose huge discography is something I've only scratched the surface of. I do have Upuaut and like that one quite a bit.
Yes Oophoi has a large discography - Athlit is highly recommended as well as the Dreams set and The Dreaming of Shells for a good start.

I must also also add Celestial Geometries and Signals From The Great Beyond to the list of Oophoi discs to check out. In my opinion these are essential recordings to have in anyones collection

I recall a time when loading a relatively small quantity of samples into the sampler could take longer than an hour.  I don't miss that at all.

Ah yes, it was a good excuse to go and make a cup of tea, several even!   ;D

Kontakt is my main sampler.  I sold my hardware samplers because of Kontakt.  I use Absynth, Pro53 and FM8 occasionally.  I still prefer hardware synths and have more than a few of them.

I probably won't upgrade Reaktor until I've stretched the limits of version 5.  That will take a while.  So maybe the next upgrade will be Reaktor 7 or 8?

Kontakt is an amazing piece of kit, so many ways to make new sounds. Been using it for many years and still discover new things to do with it. Like yourself I also sold my hardware samplers (Akai S5000 x2) because of Kontakt, although recently I have bought an Akai Z8, mainly because I want to build up my hardware equipment again, but also as a backup, just in case!

Fortitude series 2.
After the excellent first series I have been eagerly awaiting this shows return. Although there are still the odd surprise here and there, it isn't as good as the first series, and I can't help feeling a little bit disappointed. The ending sort of hints at a third series but I don't find myself feeling as eager for that one as I did after the end of the first series. Still worth watching though, for those who have seen series one.

The TI2 Darkstar is a beauty, I am after one of those myself, although it may not be this year. We are hoping to extend the house this year, which would incorporate a new studio room,  then I can concentrate on getting more hardware stuff back again.
Those K&M stands are good quality stuff. I have a double braced X stand which I have modified to take 2 additional tiers

I Don't know of any of the free programmes, I use Illustrator and Photoshop occasionally. I also use this :- http://www.acoustica.com/cd-label-maker/
which is very reasonably priced and has a free trial so you can try it out.

Finally got chance to listen to this, really nice atmosphere going on there, nice job.

As for the cover you could re position the text over the water that way it would show up clearer and you wouldn't have to change the colour, or add shadow to it.

The Komplete Kontrol keyboards will work with anything, they are optimised to work with NKS/Komplete instruments but not exclusively. Ridiculously expensive though!
Failing that pick yourself up a second hand Novation SL MK1 or MK2, but don't use automap, just make your own templates. these are their older controllers so should be able to pick one up at a reasonable price.  ;)

Apparently you will only be able to update/install products with Native Access if your computer is on line. There doesn't appear to be any offline option. Older operating systems and older NI products can still use Service Centre but products released with or after Komplete 11 will be supported exclusively by Native Access.
I emailed NI about this, as being one of many NI users, whose music computer never goes online, I was a bit annoyed at the possibility of not being able to update Kontakt and all my other NI products, unless I put my computer online. Still waiting a response  >:(

2 tracks posted on Bandcamp. These are not new tracks but they appeared on the Awakenings series of compilation albums in 2010 and 2011. They are free to download or you can donate if you wish

A couple of nice releases I've been listening to lately:

Jaja - Milky Way
         Sparkles

Both of these releases are very meditative and calm.  Performed live.  Nice for late-night contemplation, especially Milky Way, which has long-form pieces spread over two discs.

Phobos - An October Evening

Also a live recording.  Hard to describe this one.  Moody and dark in places, bordering on dark ambient, with ebbs and flows, and occasional suggestions of melody.  Well done.

Forrest

Cheers Forrest, glad it arrived ok. ;)
