Just back from a short break in Highland Perthshire where I visited this place...........

The smallest distillery in Scotland where everything is hand made by the three distillery workers.

I purchased this........

and thereafter partook of said amber nectar of the gods, at my holiday place, looking out over this landscape one afternoon in the late summer sun....

Very pleasant indeed.

PS Julio .....this dram also tasted wonderful in the distillery tasting room  ;) 8)

Well I have only been here since Dec 2013 but have thoroughly enjoyed the posts here. Ambient music has really taken over my life, well okay, my listening this past 3 years or so. Thus it is highly appropriate I have found this place.

My own music has always been guitar orientated rock with side projects of African/Scottish/instrumental concepts. However I am being inspired by listening to some stunning ambient music recently and my studio will be getting fired up again over the winter months for some deep ambient research and playing. Hopefully this guitarist/Djembe player will be picking up some tips from the wealth of experience and musicianship on here  :D

Favourite thread on this website............has to be..........Currently Listening  8)

Autumn Of Communion 3.9. Three very different remixes of the AOC track Solar Image by Mick, Ishq and Nacthplank. Really superb.

AOC 5, their final release, is up for pre-order on the ...txt website. Only 100 available from the website with the other 50 going to distributors in Japan and USA.

Silence V in particular is something very special. An ambient masterpiece.......for me.

This Robert Rich performance has been posted elsewhere, don't know if any of you have seen it or if the link is on here somewhere. Absolutely fantastic to see and hear this.......

Got the kindle app for my ipod touch and iphone. Very useful indeed for emergency reading when out and about. So had to get some SciFi downloaded thereon. Gave this series a try.......

Jeffrey A Carver - The Chaos Chronicles.

A human mining operative working on Triton is possessed by an alien being. Said alien wants him to save Earth from a catastrophic event. There is some quite humorous interaction between the two lifeforms.

Book 1 very good indeed, the second Strange Attractors - mmmhh not as engaging. Had to get the third book though to find out what happens ( the usual quandary ). It is excellent so far.

I think you meant Hanging MASSES.  Not to be confused with the Cure's Hanging GARDEN...

Actually it's a special, limited edition Ultimae release............. which is a hybrid Cell album combined with  Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden.

PS That is bollox and you are quite correct Drone On  ;)

Carbon Based Lifeforms-23.I knew about the label,Ultimae, and thought is was downtempo trance. But this CBL is all ambient,no beats and well recorded.Gentle melodies in there mixed with field recordings.

I have a fair few Ultimae releases. Got the "Carbon Pack" a while back which is the first 3 CBL releases. Very high quality melodic orientated ambient. Haven't listened for a good while so will dig them out this week :). Also have Aes Dana, Hybrid Leisure Land, James Murray, Solar Fields, Sync 24. All high quality stuff. Best of the lot though is Cell - Hanging Gardens, stunning.

Bizarrely, the one I listen to most is the I Awake - Birth EP, beat orientated melodic ambient. This is my shower music, perfect length for a good long soak and loud enough to hear over the shower as ambient is a bit tricky in that regard.  Too much info there but hey ho, great music  ;)

Just received these in the mail:

Mick Chillage--Saudade
Miss Garden--In the Silence of the Subconscious
Lee Norris/Porya Hatami--The Longing Daylight

All on the Carpe Sonum label, started recently by the guy who runs Ear Rational and was the US distributor for Fax records...

Excellent albums, all of them high quality and very difficult to chose between. Great label Carpe Sonum. Looking forward to the Bubble, Krystian Shek, AOC4 and new Heckman releases.

Nice galleries there Julio.

Particularly in the clouds. Big skies are a great photographic subject.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: Any Genesis fans?

There are some good moments on Calling All Stations right enough. The lad that sings on that album came from a fairly iconic, Scottish Heavy Rock band called Stiltskin. I liked them and couldn't believe he had joined one of my favourite bands Genesis. Great voice.

Re Gabriel 4. I saw him on that tour also. Edinburgh '83. Amazing stage performance by the man. Shock the monkey.......swinging from monkey bars on the stage before falling into the crowd. Have to say there are some stunning songs on So ......Red Rain, In Your Eyes, Mercy Street.

Favourite of all PG albums for me has to be 3...Intruder, No Self Control, I Don't Remember , And Through The Wire, Games Without Frontiers, Not One Of Us, Lead A Normal Life, Biko. Fantastic musicians including Stick Bass man Levin and one of my favourite guitarists David Rhodes. Iconic album has to be in my top 20.

Gabriel , for me, is the best vocalist there has ever been.

I listened to "The Delicate Forever" last night intensely , without distraction and fairly loud.

First off I think this is a great album and I will listen frequently. In respect of the bass issue being discussed I agree with others who have said there is no issue here, it is part of the music. I reckon we must be discussing track 4 and possibly5 in this regard. This is where the bass really makes an appearance  8). A slow but intense drone that adds a dark overtone to the mid and high wandering, meandering synths. This track is haunting, sometimes discordant, unsettling in parts, I think this it really is excellent and creates a very strange atmosphere indeed.

Another thing I like about this album is the way the five tracks blend and subtly change into there own personas almost seamlessly but sometimes hint at the previous or other tracks.

I will enjoy this work of art frequently I suspect.

Sounds good, a nice chilled pint of amber nectar  :)

Life's too short for falling out about music, especially ambient which I thought was impossible.

I have not detected any negative bass issue with the music under discussion, will have to listen on my main hifi as I tend to listen through in my Office standmounters. The Tannoy floorstanders will be more revealing perhaps.

Good excuse to listen again today  :)

That sounds an interesting read right enough.

I have recently bought 3 books ; The Picts A History, Before Scotland, Archaeology and Early History of Angus. Currently researching this era of the start of civilisation  ;) Loads of ancient Pictish stones, forts etc round about my area.

Have some musical ideas kicking about on this theme also if I ever get my finger out and get back into recording again.

Looking forward to hearing your new release.
