Well I'm not surprised...

Tomas has the most harsh comments here, I don't understand why..

My suggestion is to buy somewhere else, maybe other labels that ship to Russia?

I like this one too.

But like many listeners, I would prefer if he went in the same vein of ''Structures from Silence'', in my opinion a well thought composition of layered sounds (thinking about the track ''Quiet Friend'), the latest works seem more random, like the stuff Ran Kirlian does...It's easy to release albums like that. ::)

No physical volume knob, what the heck? 2 pieces will create more cumbersomeness...

This is my current portable dac. Zoom H6.

30 hours of operation, 6 track recorder and audiointerface.

The front mics can be detached. So besides being a great recorder with pristine audio quality it can fit in bag and be a great vacation partner too serving as a usb powered dac.

I was recording today at the beach and the quality is just mind blowing.

It comes with a nice price tag and Richard Devine recommends it :)

I've ordered some Mogami and Van Damme, I will make some tests before I bulk purchase.

6
Ok just let us know about your findings ;)

Yeah, the one I posted before didn't had an headphones plug...Indeed it has the burr brown chip like the Dangerous Music Source and other high end gear.

Another company you might want to check is:

I have a Vaio laptop and it's reliable, I can't vouch about their other products tho...

Anyway, this one should be easier to listen live and it has some positive reviews online.

Everything and Nothing / Re: A viewpoint of ambient EM music
« on: July 05, 2014, 12:19:04 PM »
Ambient music is not for common people, some call it ''Elevator Music'' or ''Airport Music'', how can you teach these people, how can you feed them with a fine gourmet meal, if all they want is a greasy Big Mac and a beer?

Well I also agree that is a lost cause, you can't show sublime music to a death metal listener, basically a Neanderthal gorilla, just watch some live death metal concert and you will see ''how friendly'' they are to each other.

It's a clash of cultures, peace and introspection vs brutality/stupidity.

Of course this an exaggeration and obviously grey zones exist.

I was refering to the micromain 35 in the 5k euros range, that was what you paid for the HG3?

But good to know you sorted the oxidation problem out. :)

Why did you purchase this speakers in the first place? I would buy a pair of barefoots with that money...
They look like a tank.

I use mogami cables mostly.. clocking cable I use klotz with Nutrik connectors..

If you want a really good deal in EU who do all mogami cables including AES snake cables let me know..there is a site in UK who sell them.. (to find mogami in EU is a problem besides the most popular microphone cables)

Yes mogami are recommended all over the place. Thanks mate, I will bug you about those soon :)

Does anyone knows if using the unbalanced cables from the synths with a balanced patchbay (samson s patch plus) will fu.... things up?

cheers

It is true mogami is the religion the most studio people follows however there is also another religion of people saying that cables does not matter... it is up to every one to decide how much you care about the audio signal I decided to buy the mogami.. to buy expensive gears and cheap cables is not logical.

Alright the Dealer in uk is http://www.hhb.co.uk/  it is slightly cheaper then http://shop.synthax.de  which now also have web store added a webstore recently..  recently however slightly more expensive  also musicstore.de have some of the more popular mogami cables..

...But which ones are more indicated for synths? Will the guitar ones be ok?

I'm still not in that 1% of audio engineers that can spot the difference by hearing for ex your Eclipse or a Prism Sound Atlas. And I really doubt I could spot the difference between the Source and higher stuff.

That requires a lot of training or maybe natural talent? So yes, in this price tag the Source is really cool!

Hello,

What cables do you use to connect your synths?

My setup is going to be like this:

Synths

Patchbay (Samson S-Patch Plus)

and into a RME Fireface UFX.

Do you record in mono or stereo? (adding fx and panning later in daw)

Is it needed to use balanced cables? Seems most synths use normal high impedance signal like electric guitars.

Any recomendations? Thanks!

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Re: DACs

I finally got it, it has an amazing clarity!

For now I connected it to a pair of Van Damme XLR cables to the Neumann KH120. My girlfriend thought that I was using a 5.1 audio system, because the separation, stereo image and clarity revealed a load of layers, that was lost in my old system.

I'm still pondering if I buy the Adams A77x or something else, tho..

I've ditched the deal with mutronics. I have more important things to purchase now, but I will keep an eye on the T-Resonator when it's time. Thanks for the tips.
