Headonist, it seems that you buy the same CDs multiple times..??? you run a little business on that..

i'm also anxious about the SRF, i just placed my order a few minutes ago :)
though i hope not every track is filled with that pilot/atc speaking..

about Gterma, i think the prices are pretty fair. They can also save you on shipping costs by sending out CDs without plastic jewel cases.
I agree the Urenga is really good (aka Indo) and i was struck by the other release from Undara as well, this' tribal atmospheric stuff of the highest order imo! Think of a kind of revival of Suspended Memories..

Last night i spend time with;

alio die & antonio testa - reverie
(one that does grow on you, quiet lingering zither's, fieldrecordings, a real hot/humid summers' night soundtrack..)

alio die & lingua fungi - otter songs
(yes i've been waiting for this moment, Alio Die take a 'deep' dive back into darker mystic realms which i've been missing a bit along all his recent 'lighter' stuff..)

also anticipating;

robert turman - flux (gamelan/kalimba tunings from another exotic forgotten world..)
kyle bobby dunn - bring me the head of kyle bobby dunn 2CD
shrine - somnia (cyclic law)
duane pitre - feel free
stefano pilia - strings
cory allen & steinbruchel - seam

Dave, that 36's Lithea CD is a real beauty !!
i'm glad i grabbed a copy as it's almost OOP (see his bandcamp)

now listening to the latest Gterma's:

urenga - after rain (excellent dubtechno with fieldrecordings)
undara - traveller (still listening, but so far excellent compilation of atmospheric tribal ambient)
36 - lithea (one of those CDs that really takes me there..)

sleep research facility - stealth 2CD
grouper - A I A (2CD reissue on Kranky!)
monos - age & transformation (new 2CD on the excellent Infraction)
yellow6 & thisquietarmy - death valley (2CD issue)

all 2CDs i see now   :D

joachim nordwall - ignition
(don't read a thing about this, as it was a favorite of mine of last year, Boomkat put it nicely; butchness and bite, monkishly reserved ambience..)

Michael Stearns - Lyra
(exceptional release from Stearns, definitely far ahead of its time. i wish he did more things like this)

Indo - Winter in Zangla
(real cool droning, i've been playing this for 4 times on a row today!)

alio die & mariolina zitta - la sala dei cristalli
(starts realize this is good work, darker and grittier than Alio Die's recent output which is imo a good thing)

alio die - pure and deconsecrated
(the 1st 3 tracks are really excellent, the last 2 tracks got me a bit less..)

bvdub - serenity

conforce - machine conspiracy
(can't get enough of this, fantastic well-crafted dub-techno with a classic feel)

elodie - la lumiere parfumee
(beautiful release from Andrew Chalk, a bit more experimental at times but still quite touching..)

david monacchi - eco-acoustic compositions
(still need to spend more time with, as the title says processed fieldrecordings with sometimes a hidden drone or tone here and there..)

waiting for my arrival of a new Aidan Baker 2CD 'Loop Studies'
the bandcamp full streaming sounds very tasty to me !

listening today to Parikrama & new Indo, very cool music.
Indo has a nice distinct sense for drone on this disc.
i have to say that A.P's mastering job is a good one !

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: Bvdub influences
« on: March 21, 2012, 10:22:40 AM »
i'm surprised as well to hear from Mr Bvdub that Steve Roach is his nr.1 influence,
from the interview i think you can regard him as a very friendly, OK guy!

his latest 2 discs fromn Darla are more beat (or even club-) oriented, not sure yet what to think of those..
but these certainly have a rather nice optimistic vibe throughout..

still really enjoying Gterma's recent output!
and just checking Gterma release schedule;

i think all 3 upcoming CDs do sound interesting..

Havdis produces beautiful tranquil soundscapes (check here!
Urenga is a kind of rather nice and fresh mix of ambient-dub with tropical fieldrecording, i like the mixture.
Undara, sounds good either so far, a bit in the vein of Brian Parnham or even.. the legendary Suspended Memories..

i realize i do a bit of spamming, but i think these are worth to mention.
Gterma is on a good roll, if you ask me

today mainly the new stuff from Gterma & Celer;

parikrama - the silent bon
(better than i thought.. i think a perfect companion to Psychomanteum's Oneironaut (Cyclic), similar mood/spheres)

indo - winter in zangla
(still listening to get a proper impression, so far quite OK, thick droning with some processed gongs along the way..)

chubby wolf - on burnt, gauzed wings (from Ornitheology)
(not releasing this on CD-format would be 'very' serious ambient-crime!)

celer - honey moon
(excellent release once again! beautiful, intimate drone poetry..)

mathias grassow - alchemystery
(listening to it now, so far so gooood..)

now awaiting the new Alio Die's & Aglaia's, though Discogs has nice previews on them!

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: 50% off Celer bandcamp
« on: March 07, 2012, 11:34:40 AM »
i treated myself on a few proper 320 downloads, the ones i got of these were so so rip offs..

Celer - Honey Moon
Celer - Rags of Contentment
Celer - Recumbent In Wishes
Chubby Wolf - On Burnt, Gauzed Wings (Ornitheology)
[this last track of Chubby is one of the most heartrending tracks i could think of.. utterly gorgeous, devastating.. but hey, that's me :) ]

Other Ambient (and related) Music / 50% off Celer bandcamp

for many of us Celer's output might be too overwhelming.. though i believe there are many hidden beauties to find in their ever growing catalogue.
till the end of this week, there's 50% discount on all Celer downloads; just apply the discount with; march

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: Erik Wollo - Silent Currents

i agree, Nuun.
Silent Currents is a very nice release! i have been playing this over the last weeks and it's still growing on me..
i'm still chewing on whether buying his recent 3CD set on spotted peccary or not..

Now Playing / Re: Currently listening, part 1

Max Corbacho-Deep Time.  3 immense tracks up there with his best.  Should have been a proper cd release.  Makes me feel better after the disappointing Bioma dud.

i do agree, Drone On. i was also very underwhelmed by Bioma. they should re-release Deep Time or their 1st collaboration instead!
the Bvdub is still quite good even he might be a bit saturating the market with his releases.. i especially like to first 2 tracks with their fantastic vocals.

maggi payne - arctic winds
psychomanteum - oneironaut
robert rich & b. lustmord - stalker
michael stearns & ron sunsinger - sorcerer
steve roach & loren nerell - terraform
vidna obmana - memories compiled I

thanks for the head-up on the new Tammik.
a damn shame indeed it's on CDR only this time..
it all sounds good so far.. i'm still considering on what format to buy this release....

Other Ambient (and related) Music / mathias grassow & Gterma records

check this link and click on the covers;
as there're some interesting CDs forthcoming from Gterma!
especially the Grassow 2CD is one i anticipate highly.
hopefully they come around the corner shortly..

yes, there will be 2 Alio Die collabs. and 2 more Aglaia CDs, hopefully around the new year.
in my opinion the AD/A collab. isn't much of a worthy addition to their catalogues.. though i really liked the Honeysuckle, Aglaia & Enten Hitti one.
Alio Die also recorded together with Bruno Sanfilippo recently, see Bruno's facebook..

actually i'm looking forward to the new Mathias Grassow, will be a 2CD which sounds a bit in the vein of Alio Die's Aura Seminalis;

another collab. of interest is a new Yui Onodera & The Beautiful Schizophonic- Night Blossom CD

awaiting stuff for playing today;

harold budd - in the mist
bass communion - cenotaph
elve (ishq) - emerald
chihei hatakeyama & naph - air
koss - ancient rain

Now Playing / Re: Currently listening, part 1
« on: November 23, 2011, 10:25:16 AM »
that sam rosenthal CD is pretty nice, much better than i thought..
somewhere inbetween james johnson and.... william basinski.. but it's moving quite nicely over the course of its duration

recently lots of things (list just a few);

ishq - skyspaces
(really wonderful disc, i explored this one as Headonist urged's on the repeat-mode here!)

robert rich - medicine box
(overall colorful, exotic, detailed, in optimism wrenched sound, still digging it..)

oophoi - three lights at the end of the world
(bought the re-issue and liking it more then ever.. plus oophoi gets more re-issues in the new year 2012 on Practising Nature)

steve peters - in memory of the 4 winds
(quiet droney wind sounds, fieldrecording, balinese flute playing along with beautiful female chanting towards the end)

oophoi & seren ffordd - the martian chronicles
(a bit more abstract than i thought, 'Blue Fire' is an incredible piece, if they'd say it's new track from namlook & inoue, i would believe :o)

spheruleus - voyage
(fantastic radiant droning, at times a bit reminscent of Alio Die's heavenly droning..)

maps & diagrams - lights will call on you / the town beneath the sea
(2 favorites of the year, this guy really knows how to do it, beautiful droney timbres and sound design..)

nils petter molvaer - baboon moon
(i like it better than 'Hamada' if you ask me)

eliane radigue - triptych
(bleak quiet droney minimalism, intriguing somehow..)

chris watson - el tren fantasma
(fascinating fieldrecordings along the trainrails through mexico)

next -- steve roach - journey of one

new Alio Dies & Aglaias
steve roach - back to life Boxset!
max corbacho & bruno sanfilippo - bioma
harold budd/robin guthrie/eraldo bernocchi - winter garden
fennesz & sakamoto - flumina
mathias grassow - alchemystery
bvdub - then :o

nice covers those new Lowpoints.

and good to see there will be a 2CD release by Bobby-Dunn!
and idea when this will be released??

funny to see many labels turn into vinyl-only lately.
initially i felt a bit frustated by this.. as i simple won't buy LPs, but on the other hand i save out many bucks :)

Journey of One is up now for pre-order on the Roach site and others.
though why they don't give us some mp3-medleys..?

i'll order it anyway as a big Roach-fan but somehow i got a feeling this 2CD will feature 2 alternate-versions of On This Planet.......
the amazon 30-secs. excerpts ( don't say much either.

well, we'll see.
