yes, these are the original cassette covers back that time.

not sure they used a higher resolution of these pictures on this cover, can't see that here.. would be nice though when some new pictures are added from that era.
as well as with the Dream Time Return 24-bits re-issue, they decided too keep the original artwork which is a good thing.

i look forward to get myself a copy of this hopefully late july.. definately one of Steve early milestones!

just noticed this!
is this the actual cover or not? feels a bit retro for nowadays but most probably intentional with this re-release :)

this morning;

bvdub - songs for a friend i left behind
bvdub & ian hawgood - the truth hurts

(though his layering of sounds is quite simple, this guy really knows to draw you in.. his tracks needs time to develop but are truly captivating somehow)

and earlier on this week;

deepchord - hash-bar loops
(yep, Modell back into his form, aquatic ambience with minimal deep-end grooves, excellent)

the garden - in sea-land (hakobune & david tagg)
(what you expect from mr. tagg..? YES, beautiful intimate droning, drenched in light and dust..)

luigi turra - KI
(probably THE release of 2011 for me.. a 3CD set filled with mystery, it features found sounds, fieldrecording, lost voices/echoes, distant drones, shakuhachi, stones, all in all completely captivating! and nothing beats the price at andOAR)

alio die - honeysuckle
(feels like continuation of Castles Sonorisation's Series.. soft enchating drones with soft tinklings of the zither.. very nice for early morning ambiance)

jeff greinke - timbral planes
jeff greinke - places of motility

(my enjoyable revival of Greinke's earlier work)

richard chartier - a field for mixing
(surprisingly a fantastic piece of work, gone is all that annoying high-frequency stuff, but make place for a collage of organic sounds, field-recordings, rather deep stuff..)

anticipating;

steve roach - the complete Quiet Music (3CD)
erik wollo - silent currents (excerpts sound simply great, reminds me of thom brennan's colorful, majestic work)
aidan baker - still life
nicholas szczepanik - please stop loving me
offthesky - the beautiful nowhere

has been a while, way too many releases too mention but some i've been enjoying quite a bit :)

maps & diagrams - get lost
(this guy really got talent, beautiful sense for tone, timbre & melody)

jeff greinke - cities in fog
(greinke got a healthy revival here, awaiting his 'timbral planes' and 'ride' CDs to complete my collection on his)

steve roach & erik wollo - the road eternal
(the purple covers reflects the mood & sound nicely, track 5 is a real standout for me)

kammarheit - the starwheel
kammarheit - asleep & well hidden
(2 dark deep droney classic in the dark ambient genre, glad they got a re-issue!)

matt christensen - a cradle in the bowery
(a real grower from the Under The Spire label, lost romantic, bluesy decaying vocals, good one!)

simon whetham - prayers unheard
(has a rather obscured story behind  it.. though the CD is just excellent imo)

and many many more..

looking forward to;
4 new Hic Sunt Leones CDs (including 2 Alio Die's)
luigi turra - ki
kangding ray - OR
chris watson - cross-pollination

hello Tomas,
Ornaments sounds very good/promising to my ears, though the prices a bit less! is €17 a reduced price?? and €19 for overseas customers, that means $27.44 with the rate of the very now for most fellows here?? is that not a bit overpriced for a single CD today, even when it comes in a digipack like many others..
i still buy a lot of CDs these days even we're in the middle of a nasty download culture.. but honestly these prices really puts me off, even as a EU-customer. sorry for any offending which may occur.

yes, i do agree. i've been playing these MP3s quite a few times last night from Brian's site and i think it's really outstanding what they do here.. the grooves are very cool, with occasionally more raw sounds and excellent deep desert atmospheres.. i should wait for its final product but i think this might be something special..

seth nehil - flock & tumble
seth nehil - furl

(an intriguing set of avant-garde ambient sounds, nice use/play of space, echoe and soft sparse tones..)

markus fischer - monocoastal
(beautiful, detailed micro-sound, among my 12K favorites)

alio die - tripidium naturae
(very nice collection and balancing inbetween Alio Die's early recordings and his recent castle series)

alio die & mariolina zitta - la sala dei cristalli
(a slightly darker set of sounds then Alio Die's recent output, cavernous, spaciousness... soft dusty drones, still digging these atmospheres..)

steve tibbetts - natural causes
(wonderful CD, thanks to Drone On for mentioning this one!)

thom brennan - stories from the forest
(never thought i would like this one that much, haven't played a CD that much lately, fantastic!)

enrico coniglio - sea cathedrals
(huge walls of majestic ambient, more interesting than Enrico's other more glitchy output, imo)

clive wright - taqsim to antlia
(after a few repeated listens i really got drawn into this release, i'm gonna play it again NOW)

celer - honey moon
(ohh man, i know there's too much Celer stuff around lately but this IS GOOD [comes close to their Four Pieces 3''CDEPs], even though this -fashionabe format- sucks twice)

anticipating;

steve roach 2011 Boxset !!
riccardo dillon wanke - to r.s. (on it's way)
bvdub - tribes at the temple of silence

yeah, i like the music most when Daniel Lopatin goes solo with Oneohtrix Point Never.
and note that John Elliot's fantastic Imaginary Softwoods will get a CD issue early next year on Digitalis, finally!

i recently got introduced to some works (most of them are for FREE on;http://boredmanganesh.bandcamp.com/) by BMG..
i think this german clearly got some talent here, fantastic deep organic droning, sometimes with kind of raga-feeling to it..
and don't forget to check out his new work on Install, Evoke The Present! an awesome collection of drones, atmospheres, fieldrecordings with the right amount of grit!

Drone On, this is a nice topic!

yes, i think this 'past' duo made some memorable music outthere.. as every Celer release is really one to look forward to.
though i think that with their overwhelming amount of releases been done and waiting for being released, it may feel a bit like being saturated by them..

i hardly can think of any name within the ambient/electronic scene that throw out so many eyes in a considerable short time-span and has been sought after that much.

as for their Soundscaping disc, i think the 'louder' issue is also part of a louder mastering, same thing with the recent Chihei Hatakeyama which i personally find a bit annoying. both disc also share a similar shrill sound..

i didn't pay much attention yet to the Yui Onodera collab. but it features some fieldrecordings that feels at times like being a bit misplaced or not that well chosen.. well with that judgement it could be me only..

but talking about their music, it's the kind i like most, i always feel more connected with a quieter/lingering quality of sound which they seemed to master it. the music feels overall quite intimate, introspective and 'indeed' barely present in an almost smokey invisibility.. :-)
what i never heard before in ambient music like theirs, is that they have a strong story-telling feeling/caracter. like chapters in a book as many of their CDs tracktitles do tell.

it's such a tragic thing to know the fact that without Dani, the music will stop one day after all has been released. maybe the most incredible thing i heard this year came from Dani herself (Chubby Wolf), Ornitheology; On Burnt, Gauzed Wings. Music or sound could not go further inside than this particular track for me. just google-it and you will find it ;-)

lots of stuff again;

marcus fischer - monocoastal
(one of the best things i've heard from 12K in a while! and most probably one of my favorites of the year, delicate and richly detailed sweetness)

yannick dauby - overflows
(multi-layering of fieldrecordings around Taiwan urban areas, i just love it, my favorite fieldrecordings CD this year)

andrea ferraris & matteo uggeri - autumn is coming, we're all in slow motion
(another VERY great disc, terrific acoustic performances with fieldrecording, these all go together so well!)

nostalgia - echoes from the borderlands
(a big surprise, i'm not a sucker for their previous CDs at all, but THIS one's really powerful stuff, from dark ambient passages to Nadja-like guitar ambient..)

celer - salvaged voilets
(i've been playing the 1st disc only so far, they seem to be back on track with more beautiful synthesis.. like a longform edition of their Nacreous Clouds..)

tomas phillips & marihiko hara - prosa
(other micro-goodness, goes well together with the Monocoastal disc)

steve roach - empetus (2CD-edition)
(yep, after all that recent berliner-schule revival, i thought this one deserves some spins again ;-) )

and now, time to play the 4 new Alio Die's !!

..it has been while since i was looking forward to a Roach disc that much like this one;
http://projekt.com/projekt/product.asp?dept_id=&sku=PRO00253

as i'm longing back for Roach more darker, organic, grittier atmospheric tribal sounds, this might be a cool one that may fit these words..

i think Brian Parnham's recent CD re-issue The Broken Silence is an excellent disc, and deserves attention for the ones that like above's superlatives.. :)
