This is sad news. I've read many a useful article about looping by Mr. Flint. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.

Everything and Nothing / Re: How do you do?
« on: March 18, 2010, 04:58:43 PM »
My name is Kirk Watson and I was born in December of 1954 in Sacramento, California. Currently I live in the Vancouver, British Columbia area with my wife and 2 teenaged step-children.

I make a meager living running interactive music programs in daycare and preschool facilities as well as playing bass in a couple of bands. I would probably be sleeping under a bridge if it weren't for my wife's help and support. She is the former director of the Vancouver International Children's Festival and current director of an arts center with a 500 seat theater, a smaller studio theater, an art gallery and a number of other arts related studios.

Previously I had worked for Tower Records in Sacramento (over 20 years) and in social services with disabled adults and autistic children. I love music of all kinds and enjoy film and live theater as well as other visual arts. I am not much of a heavy volume reader but do enjoy a good book now and then.

At this time I am working in a ambient/world music duo called Isshin Denshin. I cover the electronic end and Alcvin Ramos plays shakuhachi and a number of other flutes and instruments. We are working on a CD and have been playing a number of venues. We have been blessed to be joined by gifted musicians and special guests. I am excited by this project. For more details check out:

Everything and Nothing / Re: Hypnos Forum Weight-Loss Challenge 2010
« on: March 18, 2010, 04:26:55 PM »
OK. I'm in.

I need to lose some of this beer related belly myself! Currently I am performing with a number of yoga teachers and younger musicians and I feel like a sea lion around them! My hiking buddy passed away from cancer and my morning walk pal moved away so I have not been out exercising much. The weather is starting to be real inviting so the timing is good. Best wishes to my fellow forum weight-loss participants!

Peace, Kirk (who feels like he weighs as much as 1000 snakes)

Yes, thank you, DeepR!
I always enjoy a Chopin experience. I think I will spin a few in his honor later this evening.

These albums are absolutely incredible...made my night last night.

I've been playing those two off and on for most of February! Rich is a wonder. I'm looking forward to hearing his latest release.

I witnessed all kinds of workplace fashion statements while managing a couple of Tower Records/Video stores in Sacramento during the 80s and 90s!!! Hair came in all of the colors of the rainbow and the clothes were pretty outrageous. One of my employees delighted in flashing her nipple piercings! Yikes!!!!

Everything and Nothing / Re: RQ009: Your desert island instrument.

And my day as well...Thanks!
Oh, and although the instrument that I have usually concentrated on the most over my "musical" years has been the electric bass guitar, if I were on a desert island, I would best be served by a piano. I do pity the non-human inhabitants with the capacity to "hear"!!!

Everything and Nothing / Re: Have a great holiday season, everybody

Happy Holidays from western Canada... Victoria, BC to be exact. My wife's folks live here so we are spending the holidays with them and then heading up island for a few days. The weather has been glorious. It is brisk but sunny and reminds me of my Christmas Days back in Sacramento, California. Best wishes to all for a wonderful holiday season and a wonderful year ahead!

Hypnos News and Announcements / Re: Hypnos 2010 outlook
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:50:33 PM »
Hey Mike,
I too, remember mention of it going way back. When I brought it up awhile back Jeff wrote that he was surprised anybody thought about this project. That's when things started heading toward a possible manifestation in the HSS catalog. Hypnos seemed like the perfect place for Karsin's music, but alas...

Happy Holidays to Hypnos Headquarters!
This is really exciting to read. Since you finally released "Fabrications", I can't bother you with that, however, I still wonder what became of Jeff Karsin's HSS project. After I brought it up way back when it seemed that it might be on again but not a mention since. Is Jeff hiding in a cave somewhere in New Mexico (with Elvis)? Just curious. Nonetheless it looks like an exciting new year for Hypnos. Thanks to you and Lena for all the hard work!
