Seems strange Projekt would release a solo Mark Seelig CD but not be interested in Oophoi!  Sam Rosenthal's loss...

As for Alio Die, Projekt doesn't really release his music anymore, at least not for a few years now.

In my view, Rosenthal seems to release music based on his "friends" taste instead of the public's.  I mean, ERIK WOLLO on Projekt?? I really like the Wollo Projekt release "Gateway," but this release seemed more like a "favor" to Steve Roach than anything else because they did that collaboration on Projekt.  To me it doesn't fit the label at all.  And that Seelig release "Disciple," didn't really understand that one either.  Can't see sales of these being too high.

I think we need to start a petition for an Oophoi Projekt release.

Now that I think of it, Mathias Grassow got a raw deal as well by being denied a Hypnos release.  Never understood why Hypnos would not put out even ONE Grassow disc yet release stuff by virtual unknowns in droves.  If the "Path of White Clouds" reissue ever comes out on Hypnos I'll eat my words. But until then...

I would think Projekt would be interested as well.

The Roach Productions I believe was started as a vehicle for newer artists who Roach has helped with their music production, like Brian Parnham and Nathan Youngblood.

Brendan Perry- "Ark" If you're a DCD fan this is very much worth getting.  He used only synths and samples so it's very synthetic (and to its detriment in spots, too polished sounding), however  there are some GREAT songs here that would've fit nicely on a Dead Can Dance project had they not disbanded so long ago (can't believe it was almost 15 years ago!)

Create-"Kindred Spirits"
Type O Negative-"October Rust"
Erik Wollo-"Gateway"
Jeff Pearce-"Daylight Slowly"
Mathias Grassow-"Dissolution"

No, no sound issues yet on these discs...

You're right about SPV really screwing up some of the KS reissues.  Don't forget the awful distortion on "Picture Music."   8)

Whatever they are, they look cheap and they probably were cheap to manufacture.  Can't understand why an artist with the name recognition and virtually guanranteed good sales of someone like Klaus Schulze would want to put a music release on some kind of other multi-media type disc, for the reason it "looks neat." SPV/Revisited achieved the "vinyl look" fine with the label side "grooves" on all the previous KS reissues.  Who care's what the bottom of the disc looks like?

How's the new album coming, Phobos? Will it be a physical release as on "Darkness Within"? I love DW, everyone on the Forum should definitely check this out!

No, you're not alone in your summation.  It's been really hard for me to get into this.  The sound is so different from the classic Roach we all know, and expect--maybe this is the "problem."  This album is not drowned in reverb and the music is more "up front," if that makes sense.  If ECM went purely "electronic", maybe this would be the result?  I had a good listen at work today and started to appreciate what he did here.  This is one you might need to put on the shelf for awhile and come back to with new ears.

Both KS's mgr and label MIG-Music insist these are CD's, despite all evidence to the contrary.   ::)

Have you tried submitting some demos to Ambient Live? They've released quite a few Seren tracks on compilations, and full-length dark ambient projects by Phobos, Edge Effect, and Phrozenlight.  I could see Oophoi sitting nicely beside those artists.

There was a post recently on the Forum about a collaboration w/ Seren F. that is finished and planned for a Hypnos release.  Believe it is called "Martian Chronicles."

No argument from me that Oophoi is great.  I still think "Celestial Geometries" is the best space music (as in outer space) release ever.  I think he may have gotten "burned out" with doing so much in such a relatively short period of time (roughly 2000 to 2005).  That is, running his own label and doing a lot of recording.  I'm looking forward to the new music. (PS: I agree the Aqua Dorsa disc wasn't really an Oophoi album but was still quite good).

Rapoon-Dream Circle (new reissue). Great!

Fanger & Schonwalder-Analog Overdose 2. Haunting, ultra-smooth modern Berlin School ambient.
Kubusschnitt-Entropy's Evolution.  With Gert Emmens as a member, this sounds more like an Emmens solo album.  Ruud Heij's input seems dwarfed, but nonetheless very good album.
A.Die/Parallel Worlds-Circo Divino. Exquisite.
Steve Brand-Because We Were Once Covered in Gold. Excellent space music release.
Steve Brand/Disturbed Earth-Busy with Dreams. Dark drone, very industrial feel bordering on "harsh" at times.  Not for the casual listen, but good stuff nonetheless.

The Reegs- The Reegs Collection. Ex-Chameleons guitarists' project.  Essential dream rock.

Regarding the correct pronunciation of the Die in Alio Die, per a conversation with Robert Rich back in '94, it is pronounced "dee-ay."  But I still use the less syllable easier version, "dye."

Regarding Circo Divino, I just received this and it is a gorgeous album.  The modular synths and Musso's drones mix perfectly, and the female vox are exquisite.  Fantastic cover artwork, too.  Circo Divino is to DIE for! (or is it to "dee-ay" for?)

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: Andrew Chalk- The Cable House

Yes, the Tanner Menard disc on Slow Flow Rec is awesome--heavily processed muted pianoscapes.  I've put off getting the Cable House and will definitely be picking it up.

Mathias Grassow is unique--there are too many CD's yet you can never get enough  ;D

re: Klaus Wiese comment above:  Grassow hasn't released much lately anyways, so I wouldn't say the quality has necessarily gone down...

I have MOST of those listed above and more.  If I had to choose ONE, probably would be Silent Lucidity from 1993.  This was originally a cassette but Mathias burned it to disc for me.  I'm sure you could order it from him.
