Today:
- Daft Punk: Random Access Memories
- Keith Jarrett: No End (remarkable for him playing drums and guitar, and everything else)
- Alio Die: Honeysuckle (great to leave looping for a few hours)
- Jonsi: We Bought a Zoo (soundtrack)

Just checked The Winterhouse - Gathering Autumn also, excellent. But first purchase is going to be......The Circular Ruins and Mystified: Fantastic Journey  8) Great concept, excellent album cover, amazing music ! and one of the best reviews I've read in a long time  ;D

Nice looking and very interesting site there.

Aglaia - Hymns
This is a pretty cool release, but out of sync with the typical Aglaia vibe. Throughout each track there is a highly processed voice submerged in the mix. I can't understand what it is saying (if it is saying anything in particular), but it has a spooky, robotic quality to it. That voice, combined with the more typical Aglaia synth work, gives this album a really unique sound--something that is both alien and yet strangely familiar. I imagine this is what hymns may sound like if they were performed by humanoid insects on another planet.

This description alone means I will HAVE to check this one out  ;D

Looks like there are two new Ishq albums being released today. Samples are available on Bandcamp; physical copies on ishq.org.

Strange that you should mention that; I've been breeding humanoid insects from other planets as a hobby, and strangely, they DO have an affinity for singing hymns. The damn things are keeping us awake at night! I have to throw cold water on them to quiet 'em down  ...but seriously, I love that description, will have to look that up.

Anyone who likes the Parix, Texas soundtrack from Ry Cooder, try this one...

Bruce Langhorne - The Hired Hand - it's the soundtrack to a 1971 Peter Fonda film and it's just been re-released.  Great stuff!  Available at bandcamp...
http://scissortail.bandcamp.com/album/the-hired-hand

And some excellent neo-classical ambient...

From the Mouth of the Sun - Woven Tide
Orla Wren - Book Of The Folded Forest
Aaron Martin & Orla Wren - The Blizzard That Birthed Her
The Ashes of Piemonte - Winter's Fire

Symatic Star and Jack Hertz- Shambhala.  Big themes a la David Parsons throughout, with types of chanting that are rarely woven into ambient.  Also a lot of mellowness in between with plenty of room to breathe.   From Aural Films netlabel,  looks very promising!  A few people I've seen here on the forum have releases there (Shane Morris, Mystified) and it's all name your own price- will definitely revisit.

"thirdsystem", not sure if you are aware, but Circular on Ultimae is a different project, from Norway, (featuring one member of Pjusk), it has nothing to do with German Circular project of Johannes Riedel, who is the guy behind "Radiating Perpetual Light". For full discographies, go to Discogs, Norwegian Circular is listed as Circular, while the German Circular can be found under Circular (2):

Aha, cheers for clarifying, thought there was a fair difference in the musical style. Great music on both.

Thanks.

Billow Observatory - Billow Observatory
Drifting, floating ambient, based largely on processed guitar. Expansive and beautiful.

Buy vinyl or digital or simply give it a listen: https://felte.bandcamp.com/album/billow-observatory

Billow Observatory is wonderful, no?

Now playing: Ishq - The invisible landscape. I downloaded the digital version on bandcamp since overseas shipping has been killing my wallet lately. This is a nice release--soft, pastoral ambient landscapes with field recordings and peppered with those electronic twists that are unique to Hillier. The first track is a bit chaotic at times, but, if you like some of the less structured (and more free form) work from Ishq, this release will appeal to you greatly. Buy/download link a few posts above.

From The Mouth Of The Sun- Woven Tide- Really great neo-classical/ambient that's not afraid to wear it's passion on it's sleeve. A Dag Rosenqvist and Aaron Martin collab. Incredibly moving.

Thanks to Chris23 for sending me his extra copy!

Also, another great bandcamp release, suggested to me by Chris- Virlyn- Aquirre; A free download, so you can't go wrong. Rather tense and sad dark ambient with excellent use of distant cello and piano fills.

Chris has suddenly become my new music guru- everything he suggests really hits the spot for me.

Couldn't agree more. Though I do have trouble keeping up with his voracious appetite.  ;)
