Sleepy Town Manufacture & Unit 21 - No Traces + Bonus 3" (Dalshe/8 02 02) - finally got my copy after a little UPS misadventure; very nicely done, melodic ambient with a bit of subtle grit and texture; Infraction really sets the bar high with some beautiful packaging.

I second the comment about Infraction's packaging !
I also have this album and prefer the 3" bonus over the full album.
I find the constant surface/vinyl  glitches a minor annoyance after a while.

Thanks, Anthony. Glad itís stood the test of time. I reckon itís 18 months since I put that together. Iíve just re-upped it, as it appears the file had been deleted due to not having been downloaded for 30 days.

It can be downloaded from this link (a track listing document is included in the .zip file):

Just downloaded All Swells and Billows 1 yesterday, and I have to agree with Anthony. This is good stuff. I have downloaded several of Alan's mixes, but somehow missed this one. That reminds me , I need to go back and see what other gems I may have missed.    Harry

Hi Anthony,  That would be great! I can't seem to find the second one, but I'm probably not looking in the right place.   Harry     (Oops, never mind. I just found it.)

Hi Harry, 'lo Anthony.
I'm just re-upping part II, as the file storage facility must have some form of ADD, and seemingly couldn't just let my files sit in splendid inertia for 30 days. Thanks for the interest.

Here's another thumbs up for Alan's mixes.  Most recently I've been listening to his best of 2008 mixes, an excellent selection of tracks.  I often go back to the "Great Axescapes" series as well.

Today's playlist includes...

ambrose field - being dufay [ecm] - an absolutely amazing album.  John Potter(Hilliard Ensemble) sings fragments of works by composer Guillaume Dufay (1397-1494).  The vocals are accompanied by live- and studio electronics performed by Ambrose Field, recycling and reworking Potterís vocal input.  The result is spectacular.  Here their website...Being Dufay

It's a small world.
I studied under Ambrose Field when I was at York Uni 11 years ago. He
taught electroacoustic music composition. I heard a fair bit of his material at concerts
performed at the Jack Lyons concert hall there. I have to say I wasn't a fan. In fact, his
style of high octane, 'uber-Hifi' material made me want to do something of a much more
subtle nature.

Saying that, the track on the link is far more engaging.

cheers
Pete

The Refractors - Eight Year Sleep - Dynamaphone
(Some spoken word, ambient swooshes, field recordings, all wrapped up with folksy guitar effects.  It's a 3" cdr with eight tracks total and it kind of grows on you.....)

Loren Chasse - The Footpath - Naturestrip
(Impeccable environs captured by Chasse and treated with the utmost care)

Ontayso - Abstract Serie N 01 - U-cover
(Imagine Celer with dubbed out basic channel clink and clank.  The first 14 minutes sound identical to Celer soundscapes....however the only difference is that the sound on this album is very dirty and muddy.  Oh and beware the album has these skips that seem purposefull but after the 14th time I checked the CD player to check if the album was skipping....it really got on my nerves)

Quosp - Soundscapes II - U-Cover
(Instead of focusing on the Metanoia Net label downloads that made up the gist of Soundscapes I....this album culls only two songs from his free downloads "Grassland Melodies" on Rope Swing Cities and the Blue E.P. on Metanoia....which means?  Yes, this is fresh material from Colin Kay and if anything it got a little darker)
