Thanks for the Viul tip, Joe. Just grabbed it. Right up my current alley.

I've been listening to Daizok - Autumn Scenes = not a miliion miles away, except in value for money - 22 tracks (79:57) <grin>

Check here: http://www.installsound.net/catalog.htm#i9

All tracks playable here: http://www.last.fm/music/Daizok/Autumn+Scenes

Oh sure -now the Daizok people are ripping us off, too. Three seconds completely wasted! ;)
(Actually, what I've heard so far sounds good.)

Sleepy Town Manufacture & Unit 21 - Pairwise
perhaps the best ambient tune in like ages .... would kill to write a song like this ....
unfortunately the whole album is not on the same level as Pairwise is, but still a fabulous
one

Pan Sonic - Kulma (skeletal analog electronics with a buzz and hum that reminds me of Saul's homemade machines)

Oöphoi - "The Last Farewell"

One of the most achingly beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

What Cd is that from?

I listened to The White Noise - The Visitation, trrack from 'An Electric Storm' - released in 1969 - It's 40 years old...

*Edit: To Seren:

It's from Time Fragments Vol. 2 (it's the second track).

The whole disc is amazing - one of my favorite ambient journeys.

I must dig that one out and give it a listen again, along with many of the others....

Gave this a spin this evening and really enjoyed it again....My favourite is The Changeling, but will spin a few more times to listen to The Last Farewell properly - rather than while doing something else.

Celer - Capri - Humming Conch
(Similiar to Nacreous Clouds...but overall this has the potential to really hit you in the heart.  Amongst my three favorite recordings from Celer)

Emeralds - What Happened - No Fun
(Five improvised jam sessions filled with synth zone outs, guitar buzz, and electronics.  Reminds me of the Emeralds in years 2007 and early 2008...)

Emeralds/Pain Jerk - European Tour 2009 - No Fi
(Amazing live set from Emeralds and captures them at the highest level.  I own many Cassettes and Vinyl from the trio and I have to say this is amongst one of the best things I have ever heard from them)

Today:

Four Tet—Pause
One of the earliest folk-tronica ( ::) ) albums?  Really nice, though nothing of his later stuff ever stuck with me.

Eluder—The Most Beautiful Blue
Just classic.

Celer—Engaged Touches
Frankly, I think this is the best album I've heard by them.

The Church—Untitled #23
Great new album, though it suffers the same over-heated production that plagued past releases.

Steve Roach—Recent Future
My favorite of the Mystic Chords set.  Warming up for some new ones on the way.

I agree, Brian. I recently trawled through ten (yep, they certainly churn ‘em out) Celer releases from the fairly recent past for a profile I was writing, and this was the best. Relevant bit of the profile:

“Engaged Touches (Home Normal) is their most recent, and most engrossing, combination of experimental soundscape and minimalist loopism. A most distinctive Celer-y flavour comes from a rich infusion of neo-classical romanticism. "Part #1" has huge waves of echo-steeped stringsweeps wash back and forth in bold stripes of sound, punctuated with episodic location recordings. Phases of field infusions and grandiose loopism are interwoven, orchestrating a dynamic of binaries: concrete-abstract, prosaic-poetic, earthly-elevated, etc. Longing, melancholy and nostalgia emerge as leitmotifs as "Part #2" develops themes further, drawing on a wider palette, descending to the deepest drone-depths before resurging to a majestic finale of distended and dissolving strings, evoking a yearning sense of distance, made intimately epic.”
                                                          (from: http://www.furthernoise.org/index.php?url=page.php&ID=286&iss=78)

I extracted a sequence I particularly like (one which, incidentally, could be a decent candidate for the thread elsewhere here about ‘most expansive, majestic soundscapes’); it’s up on the page where the profile is published – just click on it in the list of samples down the left hand side.

Steve Roach and Vidna Obmana - Live Archive...really glad I got this one, even though I already had Spirit Dome.

On the agenda for tonight:

Yagya - Rigning...time to take this on out for a spin again.

Robert Rich - Sunyata...this needs a good headphone excursion.

Rich/Reuter - Eleven Questions...still haven't decided if I like this one. Must give it a serious listen.

Rich/Reuter - Eleven Questions. Is anyone out there as annoyed by this album as I am? I'm feeling that Reuter just doesn't mix well with Rich, or maybe I just don't like Reuter's music in general.

Jorge Reyes- Bajo El Sol Jaguar; great primal music, as one would expect from Jorge Reyes. Some of the tracks are too brief -just as I'm reaching trance stage, the music ends. The production is maybe a tad too slick and shiny.
The Fun Years- Baby, it's Cold Inside; a crackly & lazy good time.
Viul- Summer's Wet Work Is Done; Wow, this just keeps growing on me. I wish those short tracks were longer!
