This gives me an idea - take some Glitch albums and run them through a Click/Pop/Noise removal program. Whole new albums?

If only those programs ever actually worked worth a damn...

Received this one recently

:: Pleq & Segue- The Seed

Pressed release on Databloem, and its a lovely thing.
Minimal, glitchy, repeating treated sounds, some piano, primarily ambient,
lots of little subtleties, but what sets it apart is its sheer delicacy and the
beauty of its movements. Well worth checking out.

I like Pleq's work, and Segue's, for that matter, very much. Problem is ordering directly via Databloem from the US; with shipping, the disc comes to nearly 23 Euros, roughly $30 (!) US.

So, the question becomes, who will be carrying this lovely thing stateside...Anthony? Mike? Any takers? :) Keep us informed...

Agree that the cost is excessive. It's the 10.50 euros for shipping 1-4 CD. Not so bad for 3 or 4, but ridiculous for one. Dennis operates that way for overseas because of the insurance for lost orders (he's had quite a few). But perhaps he will ship one CD in cheaper regular mail if you ask.

I only carry a few Databloems left over from the time we worked together.
But maybe Mike will be gettting some of these new pressed Databloem releases soon?

Quick follow up to my previous post.

Dennis at Databloem will mail single albums to North America for 2.85 euros if you ask him.
And he said he will be sending some copies of the new Pleq/Segue to CDbaby, and perhaps Soleilmoon.

Lloyd Cole - Broken Record (deluxe version)(a really nice acoustic-flavored release, much like his Small Ensemble limited CD, though with new tunes.  The extra disc has some nice demos and early mixes from the album sessions)
Soft Machine - Softs

"Tiger Flower Circle Sun"
I was disappointed after the first listen,
but like it a lot more the second.
Its grown on me.

I was the same with "Ocean Fire".

David Bowie - Outside
My favorite Bowie album post Let's Dance.  Production by Eno.  Dark, weird and churning, at times almost industrial, with a bizarre story underlying and connecting the songs.

David Darling -Cello
Not quite as sublime as Darling's album Dark Wood, but wonderful.  I wish he had a dozen more albums like these.  This represents the ECM label's most "ambient" edge, I think.

Agreed.

Been listening to a lot of Bruno Sanfilippo's piano stuff lately, including his two collabs with Mathias Grassow. Really evocative minimalism.

On the non-ambient side, I've been cranking Boris and Russian Circles. The latter are perhaps the only post-rock band that can hold my interest for more than 15 minutes.

Mark,

So far I agree with you on the new Willits being a bit disappointing, maybe it'll grow on me.

other recent spins...

Brandon Flowers - Flamingo - solo effort by lead singer of The Killers, not a good sign that I tired of it & switched it off before the cd was through.
Tim Hecker - Mirages - a classic.
Ry Cooder & V.M. Bhatt - A Meeting By The River - the two styles work very well together.
sun kil moon - admiral fell promises - freaking awesome!
