NP:

proJJeXx.1: decelerated recycling (files I've been playing with).

All the tracks here are experimental drones, created from compositions, samples & sections of larger works...via software; scanned into Audacity (freeware: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)...then worked (and re-worked) until they sounded right for ambient mixing. D/L zip-file includes a list of original artists used (some Jazz, some Ambient).

And, don't worry, I'm not quitting my day job  :D

Looks interesting g.a.b.

Menawhile, this evening has been
- Brian McBride : When the detail lost its freedom.
- Stars of the Lid: Their Refinement ... (both disks)
- Nunc Stans: Timeless

Was very much in the mood for the Stars  Kranky sound.

And the Nunc Stans is just about to be released here at DataObscura,
along with a free EP download. Perhaps as early as tomorrow :)

I'm still listening to the Run Lola Run soundtrack in the car between listening to Bob and Tom and NPR stuff...   The soundtrack is mostly good - it has the same themes throughout the disc so it gets a bit weary to listen to all the way through - but in short bursts it's quite nice.

Enjoying Meat Beat Manifesto - Subliminal Sandwich at my desk.  Some brilliant stuff on this 2-discer.   Also - Underworld - Pearl's Girl was also on the player yesterday.

This weekend I watched and listened to Time of the Earth for the first time in a couple of years. Oh boy it's still fantastic! Thank you Steve & Steve! Can anyone suggest something similar to this for me to check out?

Time of the Earth is very nice!  I had that on a few months ago (I play it about once or twice a year...).

Yeah just about any of the films by Ron Fricke. Try "Chronos," "Sacred Site," "Baraka" or even "Koyaanisqatsi."
Take care.

I like IO quite a bit - love that cover art.

I've been listening to

Peter James - Holding On Letting Go

Also on Atmoworks.   I've been diving through Peter James' and Dean Richards' work all week long and loving it.

Thanks for the recommendation!

This evening:

Saul Stokes - Outfolding -- I never get tired of this album. Personally I think it's one of the best electronic albums I've ever heard. It's beautiful, restrained and varied.

np:   Muse - Absolution

was:  Rufus Wainwright - mix.

Battles-Mirrored: Zappaesque to say the least. Its always a pleasure to listen to the modern state of rock sans the eyeshadow and whining voices of poor broken hearted white kids that their greatest life tragedy is that their parents forgot to pay their SUV payment last month.

Neurosis-The Eye of Every Storm:
An epic album that reveals yet another side and sound of one of metal's most influencial bands.

The Blood Brothers - Young Machetes: The fifth and last album from this Seattle post-punk outfit. You'll either love it or hate it. My wife hates it...

Selected tracks from Mark Mahoney's upcoming album.

Squarepusher: Hello Everything
In one word-brilliant.

Mr. Bungle-Disco Volante: Spastic, experimental and amazing. I can't begin to count the hours I've devoted to deciphering this album.

My head was going to explode so I took a shot of very strong drink and put on At The Gates, Slaughter of the Soul. Much better.  :P

A mixture of things, all of which I'm enjoying quite a bit--

Peter Wright - Red Lion (yes, him again)
Boxhead Ensemble - Quartets (sort of postrock meets chamber ambient, very enjoyable)
Valerio Cosi - The Spiritual Committee
Meursault - Sleeping Debris

In my quest to clean, purge, and organize - I've been going through all of my cd's - pulling out the artwork and tossing the jewel cases.   To my somewhat surprise... I found I had a lot more cd's in tubs in the basement than I thought (I thought most of those tubs were already empty jewels!)  In fact - I have 100+ of those cd's I just 'rescued' from the basement.

It's like they're all new again!    Some ended up there for a reason - they're just not as great - but some just ended up there accidentally due to a hurried cleaning up in my studio...  :)

now:   add n to x - I don't remember the title because they didn't see it as necessary to putting their band name or album title on the disc... however, I remember the cover art so I know it's them...  what a wild disc this is.   Lots of crazy analog synth punkish stuff.

Watched a few Vonfrickle videos on youtube... hilarious (in a great way).   I used to be in a band with one of the guitarists in Von Frickle.   It's instrumental prog stuff - really worth your time if you like prog!    Check out their myspace page...  http://www.myspace.com/vonfrickle

Also - continuing the trek through my cd's I had tossed in the basement...  all about the 80's at the moment...

Cabaret Voltaire - Eight Crepescule Tracks
Swans - Holy Money
Church - Remote Luxury
Robyn Hitchcock - Uncontrolled Personality Traights

The Gasman - bloody marvellous IDM. It's like some kind of warped mental excercise 'following' his stuff, such is it's quirk. Current faves from his 'The Grand Electric Palace of Variety' album:

'Electric Coconut' (says it all really)
'Bontempi Lutein'
'Bifidus'
'Imodium'

and 'Spector' from his 'Love Collection' album.

Also listening to (and reworking) the fantastic Mrs Jynx

three discs on the rotation today:
alio die - under an holy ritual, biosphere - substrata
these two are on my all time favorites list. this is the only biosphere disc that i really like. the alio die disc is an absolute classic
i am currently listening to rising by lustmord - a typically dark ambient cd by one of that style's best!
all the best and God bless
