Herbst9 vs Z'ev - Through Bleak Landscapes - nice kinda noisy in a sense of what's going on. I like it. Interesting stuff.
After:
Sear Bliss: Glory and Perdition (if you like black metal check this band out, Trumpet/Trombone! AWESOME stuff! Excellent production, been in touch with Andras (singer/bassist), I have a few of theirs as well as Decade of Perdition DVD (unfortunately it's PAL....plays on PC but not on my Panasonic....grrrrrr. My old apex would have played it but I tossed it when it started having issues playing discs...). But it is pretty cool stuff for black metal. Well played, great production and again the use of Horns in it is a treat and not overdone at all, works very well in the music.

and after that...probably some DOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooommmmmmmmmm! ;-)

Picked up some used cd's on a trip to Austin, TX last weekend at Waterloo Records and Cheapo's.
  • "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" by The Incredible String Band
  • "Just A Collection Of Antiques And Curios " and "From The Witchwood" by the Strawbs
I have all of these on vinyl, but seldom get them out to listen to. I guess I needed a little rennaissance style folk again. It's like running into some old friends.   Harry

I have about a dozen Incredible String Band albums. Used to be a big fan back in the day.
Good to hear someone else mention them  :)

SiF - That Martinez soundtrack is on my all-time best short-list. Enchanting work throughout.
Fine movie too.

I agree. An absolute pearl of remote melancholia - I particularly like the tracks that hitch gamelanesque electronics with gorgeous (real) string swells.

The Movie is a bit weak, when you know the original version.
But yeah, the OST is bloody brilliant.

John Tilbury - Barcelona piano solo

Saw him live a few years ago. Very gifted improviser. One of the few. And this one bears repeated listening especially the sections where he's working inside the piano.

Asmus Tietchens - Z Menge

I used to be really into Asmus but find much of his music is best appreciated as "truly" experimental ie. not so much interested in "musicality" as many would define it. Limited soundworlds that are best visited in small doses...or taken with collaborations (ie. w/ Koner et al)

Bruce Haak-Electric Lucifer Book 2:
I stumled across Bruce Haack watching the Documentary channel and was immediatley drawn to his story. Primitve and childlike come to mind when explaining his music. I say that in comparison to the innocence that permeates his work.

Explosions In The Sky-Those Who Tell The Truth...
I took a chance on these guys from Austin TX. after reading several rave reviews and was/am mildly impressed.

Nik Bärtsch'S Ronin - Holon - all the praise elsewhere on the forum is correct, great cd.
Emmy Lou Harris - Wrecking Ball Demos - I love this album & the demos & outtakes are excellent as well.
Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea - pulled out an old casstte I had of this album, I used to listen to this constantly at work for a year or so in 1995.  Not sure how it ranks in the overall TD catalog, but I like it.
Juno OST - it's hard to believe this is the number one album in the US(or at least it was a couple of weeks ago.)  Very fun, quirky folk collection.

Off The Sky - Cold Distances -- This is still incredibly beautiful stuff. The first couple of tracks are so deep and really does sound like, well, coldness. Excellent!

Rumforskning - Fremtiden -- Essential album. There's just something about the noises and drones in this album. It works!

Yep, couple of mighty fine albums. I'm surprised that more people have not discovered Rumforskning. Can't say I've sold many, but they create some fascinating and addictive glitchy/noisy/drone music.

Spunknik : I'm a fan of Mum, but the Poison Ivy release didn't work for me. Found it quite a change. You enjoying it ?
