Oh yeah, Soma!  Good memories, this came out right around the time I was getting deeply into ambient space music, 92, 93...blew me away at the time.

Robert Fripp-1999.  The first soundscapes cd, noisy and atonal  with some pastoral moments.

Deepchord-Sommer.  New album by Rod Modell, spacy ambient dub

Silent Harbour-Silent Harbour.  Dark ambient dub on Echocord.

Biodub--Reisegefaerte.  Deep ambient dub beats, very nice album

Clan of Xymox--Kindred Spirits.  Really enjoying this covers album, tracks by gloompop's best like Sisters of Mercy, Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie...

Oh man, now *that's* a hefty question! The discography of Machinefabriek (real name: Rutger Zuydervelt) is nearly unparalleled - I think he's on a course to eventually eclipse Sun Ra (or at least Pete Namlook). Here's evidence:

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Machinefabriek

I gave up even trying to keep up with his output, which is impossible regardless, as many of his releases are insanely limited or come out on formats I don't care about (7" vinyl, cassette). Even his CD releases number nearly something like 50+. Now, that being said, I like pretty much everything he's done (well, what I actually own, in any event), most of which exist in this hazy no-man's-land between 12k-ish material, full-on drone, processed field recordings, contained noise & softened glitch. I have the following (copied directly from my database, so apologies for the full caps):

MACHINEFABRIEK BIJEEN KNING DISK
MACHINEFABRIEK COLOUR TONES FANG BOMB
MACHINEFABRIEK DAAS COLD SPRING
MACHINEFABRIEK DAUW DEKORDER
MACHINEFABRIEK KRUIMELDIEF MACHINEFABRIEK
MACHINEFABRIEK MARIJN LAMPSE
MACHINEFABRIEK MORT AUX VACHES STAALPLAAT
MACHINEFABRIEK RANONKEL BURNING WORLD
MACHINEFABRIEK SLAAPZUCHT ROOT STRATA
MACHINEFABRIEK VELDWERK COLD SPRING
MACHINEFABRIEK VLOED SENTIENT RECOGNITION ARCHIVE
MACHINEFABRIEK WELEER LAMPSE
MACHINEFABRIEK/KBK/LIONDIALER THAT IT STAYS WINTER FOREVER WHITE BOX
MACHINEFABRIEK/S. VITIELLO BOX MUSIC 12K

I recommend (and, again, this is if you can find them) the earlier, somewhat more 'experimental' Lampse & SRA issues, which are more droney, as well as his collab w/Stephen Vitiello on 12k that falls in to that strangely electroacoustic realm, and perhaps "Ranonkel" & "Dauw" (which just got reissued, along with "Daas", I believe), which I would classify as 'explorative sound synthesis', for lack of a better phrase: kind of drone-based, but abundant with shifting textures, odd near-rhythmic pulsations, and all other manners of acute sensations.

Hope this helps a bit.... :)

Input much appreciated, Darren.

I'm releasing a Pleq/Lamy album soon that has a Machinefabriek remix on it, and I took a liking to this piece, so started listening to samples around the web and really liked what I heard. I do love this unpredictable noise/sample-mangling style when it is done this well. Picked up Colour Tones (excellent) and wanted more. So appreciate your list and suggestions.

My pleasure, Anthony. And look forward to the Pleq/Lamy release as I have all of Pleq's stuff, and it's quite fine, indeed.

Today at work I have a lot of new stuff to get to:

Mathias Grassow-Wisdom of Fate 2CD (Gterma).  I'm loving disc 2 of this so far, disc one was pretty good.

Mathias Grassow-Bloodmoon (Gterma).  Dark swirling bombastic drones.  I was a little bored on first listen, it's pretty static .

"Gyalpo" various artists (Gterma), includes a Grassow track, plus tracks by A.P., Indo, Earth Vibration.  To be heard later today.

Phobos-Darker.  Next up on the playlist.

Pleq and Hakobune-Adrift (Nomadic Kids Republic label). Later in the playlist.

Kane Ikin-Sublunar.  New 12k release, this is really excellent stuff from one half of Solo Andata.  Pieces are named after various moons of the solar system, and it really has an "alien worlds" outer space feel to it.

Agree on that Kane Ikin, beautiful work. That Pleq & Hakobune isn't chopped liver, either. ;) ...another fine collaboration from both artists.

NP: John Tejada "The Predicting Machine" (Kompakt) - not Kompakt's usual cup 'o tea, but Voigt & co. recognize quality when they see it. I've loved all of John's work over the years, but this is a real beauty - not 'techno' in the pure sense, more gem-like IDM/electronica with a finely-wrought sense of detail, & delicately-poised synths/'tronics jettisoned above an eclectic array of beats & rhythmic patterns.

Dustin O'Halloran - Lumiere
Beautiful piano and orchestral work. One half of A Winged Victory for the Sullen.

Hammock - Departure Songs
Contemporary shoegazing. Mostly instrumental, but features several tracks with subdued vocals.

Seetyca - The Luminous Deep

i like his BLEAKSCAPES even more.
terrific release where tectonic forces are at work. maybe a companion CD to Roach's Magnificent Void
some Thomas Koner elements are also to find inhere..

i think he could have chosen a better album title..

i had exactly a similar feel to this new Grassow album, though that last track is really good.
see how it grows over time

ambient/electronic:
afterhours - sleepwalker - good slow beats with cinematic ambience.
andy stott - luxury problems  -  More slow techno beats with haunting vocals & atmospherics.
pleq & spheruleus - a silent swaying breath

non-ambient:
Cloud Atlas Original Motion Picture Soundtrack  -  Listening to this in preparation for the movie coming out this weekend.
Elbow - Dead in the Boot - I'm really liking this one so far.  It's a collection of B-sides, but some are better than actual album cuts.
Icona Pop - I Love It  -  This is just a single not an album.  Easily the most infectious pop/dance tune of the year.  I love it!
