Mulm - The End of Greatness
This is one damn fine album, highly recommended dark ambient.

Brian Parnham - Mantle
Steve Roach & Loren Nerell - Terraform

I love both of these albums and they compliment one another well. Deep, vast subterranean drones.

Two of my favorite releases of the year both come from singer/song writer/indie artist John Vanderslice.  The first is his new studio album, Dagger Beach.  The songs are all have meticulous musical arrangements and at times remind me of Sufjan Stevens.  He apparently recorded to two inch tape without the aid of computers.  I love the unique feel & sound of this entire album.

You can stream it here... Dagger Beach

His second release is a cover of Bowie's entire Diamond Dogs album.  It's stripped down & psychedelic and awesome.  I love the original version & this is a fun compliment.  Here's a link to his cover of Big Brother... BIG BROTHER.

Hawkwind--Warrior on the edge of time (2013 remaster).  Incredible album.

Harold Budd--Jane 1-11.  Disappointed on first listen.  Hardly any piano, lots of BELLS...nothing like White Arcades as someone suggested here before.

Besides the first track, the new HB is to my ears going back to the White Arcades in mood, not in instrumentation.Darker and a bit nostalgic. Only one song with piano but way better than his recent output. If you are looking for the Eno/piano phase, this is not it.He has done that to death.
Wire Train-Chamber of Hellos, very underated guitar pop band from San Fran from the early 80s.
Loops of Your Heart-And Never Ending, from The Field in a TD way from 74,sequencing.

The White Arcades had a huge wall of synths sound.  The new one is much more minimal, sparse,  and quiet.

I not well acquainted with the darker side of ambient, so I love seeing your recommendations, phobos, and exploring the samples.

Been traveling this past week and listening to music loaded on an old iPod:

Steve Roach - Possible Planet
When this first came out, it seemed like a natural extension of some of the themes explored in Early Man. In hindsight, however, this really stands out as a unique release in the Roach cannon. It a wonderful set of soundscapes, combining a wide range of frequencies and textures.

Sawako - Hum
Experimental and whimsical goodness from 12k.

Oophoi and Tau Ceti - Celestial Geometries
I haven't listened to this in a long time. I was blown away revisiting it. Some of the best space music evar.

Has anyone listened to the two new 12k releases? Illuha's Interstices and Seaworthy/Deupree's Wood, Winter, Hollow?  I've listened to the samples and can't quite decide whether I want to take the plunge.

Yes, i do agree. I see here 3 great classics imo including that Celestial Geometries.

About the new 12k discs i was simply disappointed with the Deupree collab while the live Illuha CD is way better..
You can stream them on the Juno records website

Blood Box--Funeral in an Empty Room.  Utterly mesmerizing, epic dark ambient work

Expo 70--Where Does Your Mind Go?  Heavily influenced by early cosmic music by Tangerine Dream and Ashra.  Phobos, you should check this one out...

Totally agree about Celestial Geometries, in my top 5 all-time ambient space albums!

John Sobocan - A Soft Circle
A nice, minimal, down-to-earth ambient release from Databloem. Soft ambient textures, slowly shifting chords, and natural field recordings.

The Blood Box album is fantastic indeed.

NP: Steve Roach - Atmospheric Conditions

One of his best! Especially In the Heart of Distant Horizons, I consider it one of his greatest pieces.
