I've been on a huge Docetism kick lately; great stuff, deep dub drones.  Not sure what the religious theme has to do with any of it, but the music is solid.  Highly recommended.

Yep, made me have a listen too. Enjoyed everything I heard, and some tracks were quite magical.

Strom Noir- Ghosts Are The Most Fragile When Dancing- I love this one, a real oddity in Strom Noir's discography. It's one of the most diffuse albums I've ever heard-- on the surface, it's just static-y fog, but close listening reveals a myriad of fascinating sounds. It's only an EP though. Damn. Should be longer.

Thanks a lot, Joe, I have e-mailed your feedback to Emil of Strom Noir, always a great pleasure to read comments like this!!! Btw, a new CD album by Strom Noir is coming out late January 2014 on Polish label Zoharum, entitled "Urban Blues". Here is a little teaser:

Thanks for the tip, Richard! I like most of what I've heard from Strom Noir, and I doubt this will be an exception. How ya been anyway? I see you've been writing lots of reviews. You do a good job-- always entertaining and informative in your descriptions of the music.

Charlemagne Palestine- The Golden Mean

Great minimalist music imo. Has a drone-like effect.

Max Corbacho - The Ocean Inside
I've been listening to this a lot lately. I don't remember being blown away by it when it was first released, but, a year later, I find that it is still in regular rotation. That counts for something, no?

Seren Ffordd & Oophoi - The Martian Chronicles
Something I failed to buy on release, and now I'm staving off the regret. Wonderful and dark; minimal and mature.

been playing - Hawkwind - leave no star unturned - live 1972.

beautifully rambumctious, chaotic, noisy, low-fi, everything being played more constantly than everything else.

made me smile all the way through...

Ekca Liena & Spheruleus - Mapping the Boundary Layer
This is an exceptionally strong experimental ambient collaboration between Ekca Liena (Dan MacKenzie) and Spheruleus (Harry Towell). The tracks are organized around the theme of atmospheric conditions, and, as a listener, it is easy to sense oneself transitioning between dense fog, tranquil seas, and clashing storms. This is truly brilliant; check it out if you haven't already.

Virlyn- Man Asleep- Stylistically, this music jumps all over the place, but who cares? It all fits together very nicely anyway. This is a magical, special album, one of the very best I've heard this year.

Robert Rich--Morphology.  Very nice live CD, ltd to 300.  I bought this mainly because it has my fave RR track, The Other Side of Twilight, from Numena.  Only half the length of the original but still great to hear an alternate version after all these years.  The only thing I don't like about this is the metal tin packaging, was never a fan of this going back to the 90s for Recycle or Die, etc.

The Whole Traffic 2 (Fax label).  Electro trance excellence from Dr. Atmo from the mid 90s!

Orla Wren (with Aaron Martin and Isnaj Dui) - The Blizzard the Birthed Her
A relatively new release from Facture. The artwork/packaging is beautiful, in a way that is typical of the hand crafted efforts of Dan Crossley at Facture/Fluid Audio. The music is mostly in the experimental electo-acoustic tradition and is organized around two core tracks. Each of those recordings is is then expanded by adding processed cello from Aaron Martin and flute from Isnaj Dui. The core tracks, at least in my opinion, are pretty weak. I don't know if that was by design to allow the remixed versions to evolve in interesting directions. Some of the revamped versions, though, are quite lovely.

I've been playing this a lot recently:

- Dupree: Nuestro Camino

Not Taylor Dupree, but a jazz trio --- guitar, B3 organ, drums. Highly recommended.
Great organ. Quality, easy-listening stuff.
