This morning:

Anthony Paul Kerby & Tomas Weiss- Revelation- very nice space drift. Unlike their previous collaboration, Distant Shadows, which was fraught with restlessness and tension, this disc is a relatively peaceful and benign journey- no troublesome asteroids and comets to dodge :) The production and sound design is flawless, of course. Highly recommended to those who like the darker side of ambient.

Talkingmakesnosense- The Winter Drones- an oldie, but goodie. Forgot how nice this is... I wonder what happened to this guy- he made two really good albums, and then disappeared.

Nachtplank - Second Sacraments Council

Really deep ambient with a hint of ancient cathedral like voices......... Perfect for reading the final few pages of the novel - Iron Winter - Stephen Baxter.

Now checking out ; Anthony Paul Kerby & Tomas Weiss - Revelation on utube and Stormloop on bandcamp. The Oophoi and Radigue also on the check out list.

Mathias Grassow--Dagaz.  Need to add this to my best of 2013 list.  One of his strongest solo releases to date.

Ishqamatics-- Spacebound.  Great CD.  Sold out at the txt recordings label site but you can still get it from Databloem...

Aglaia - Hymns
This is a pretty cool release, but out of sync with the typical Aglaia vibe. Throughout each track there is a highly processed voice submerged in the mix. I can't understand what it is saying (if it is saying anything in particular), but it has a spooky, robotic quality to it. That voice, combined with the more typical Aglaia synth work, gives this album a really unique sound--something that is both alien and yet strangely familiar. I imagine this is what hymns may sound like if they were performed by humanoid insects on another planet.

Today:
- Daft Punk: Random Access Memories
- Keith Jarrett: No End (remarkable for him playing drums and guitar, and everything else)
- Alio Die: Honeysuckle (great to leave looping for a few hours)
- Jonsi: We Bought a Zoo (soundtrack)

Strange that you should mention that; I've been breeding humanoid insects from other planets as a hobby, and strangely, they DO have an affinity for singing hymns. The damn things are keeping us awake at night! I have to throw cold water on them to quiet 'em down  ...but seriously, I love that description, will have to look that up.
