Al Gromer Khan & Klaus Wiese - The Alchemy of Happiness

I've returned to this album after a long break and have to say I appreciate it more than ever! A real gem, full of warm and open feelings.

Recently playing: Two exceptionally well priced digital releases on Bandcamp:

Araf˙ra - HUMORES I - IV
Ethereal ambient with strings and some experimental touches. This is excellent. So excellent.
https://arafura.bandcamp.com/album/humores-i-iv

Moon Eye Lids - Moon Eye Lids
A digital release from the Wounded Wolf Press (UK). Parts of this bring me to a same place that Roach's Dream Circle takes me. With song titles such as "The Boy Who Watches the Reflection Of The Living Room Lamp on the Glass as a Galaxy in Universe with Binoculars Mesmerized and the Girl Used to Cry to the Same Old Cartoon About a Poor Dog whenever they were at Their Friends House / PART A ", how can you go wrong?  ;)

Chris,

Thanks for the heads up on those two releases.  I just bought & downloaded both.

Other recent spins:

Paul Vnuk - Silence Speaks In Shadow  -  an all-time fav.
Kraftwerk - Ralf & Florian  -  Being an electronic music fan for a looooong time, I can't believe I hadn't really heard this excellent album until last year.
Roedelius - wenn der sŘdwind weht  -  This just seemed a natural album to play after the Kraftwerk.
Oliveros, Dempster, Panaiotis - Deep Listening  -  One of my favorite ambient tracks of all time is the first cut, "Lear".

Some interesting stuff to check out on the three posts above, cheers.

Currently listening to;

Off Land - Tidewater Pulse, beautiful haunting, drifting ambient. Especially effective for extremely late night listening, but also effective at the current hour ie 1850 hours  ;)

One of my top ten releases of 2013.........http://psychonavigation.bandcamp.com/album/off-land-tidewater-pulse

Mark Harris - The Angry Child
A new release on the n5md label. The title of the album almost makes this seem as if it would be an abrasive album. But, in fact, this is serene, slowly moving, synth-driven ambient. The tracks evolve in an organic way, and, much like a dream, you don't really notice how things have changed until after the fact. Good music for sleeping or spacing out.

I am so stuck in techno / minimal techno / atmospheric techno / panoramic techno etc. etc...  ;-)

Yagya - Rhythm of Snow
Maurizio - M-Series 12"'s
Basic Channel - 12"'s
Deepchord / Echospace - Coldest Season / Liumin / Vantage Isle / DC Series

spent a day on youtube listening to UR, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, Robert Hood, Carl Cox, Plastikman.

Periskop's 40 collection I've recommended a thousand times and I'll recommend it again - 40 albums - free... and the majority of them I have loved so far!

Silent Season and Dewtone label releases have also been making me very happy - streaming them on bandcamp and wishlisting them for when I have some spare change to pick them up.

Porya Hatami- Land- another brilliant Bandcamp release. The music resembles Taylor Deupree's micro-glitch soundworlds, but a bit more melodic, with a backdrop of field samples that add flavor to the mix. A stunningly beautiful release, I'm really loving this. Very blissful and incredibly relaxing. I actually prefer this to Taylor Deupree's best music.

And he's from Iran. How often do you hear about an Iranian ambient musician?

Not a big fan of them, but this one is really good (expect from the kind of 90┤s cheesy "trance" ending):

Coldplay - Midnight

better quality:

I agree; great album. He has a new release out on Tench. Hoping it will arrive in the mail sometime this week!

Chris- That new release is called "shallow", I presume? I read a very glowing review about that album, which lead me to search Bandcamp for his other albums. Please tell us what you think about "Shallow" when you've had time to digest it.

Dwyer as Off Land has other earlier net releases floating out there as well.  "Encounter Point" is a really nice one (on Resting Bell):

Otto A. Totland - Pin˘
This is a cool new release from Sonic Pieces (DE). The album is comprised of 18 relatively short (i.e., < 3 mins) compositions for piano. The tracks are slow paced, somewhat rustic, and sorrowful in tone. This album would make a good soundtrack to a film about ghosts, nostalgia, or, better yet, nostalgic ghosts.  Adding to the atmosphere are the occasional creeks of old, wooden floorboards, hurried breaths, and the squeaking of the piano bench. Otto Totland is one-half of Deaf Center. If you are a fan of that duo and like the modern composition end of their recordings, you'll find this Pin˘ to be quite the treat.

Porya Hatami- Unstable; So far, I love everything this guy does. Another Bandcamp download. The last three tracks move away from the overt Taylor Deupree microsound vibe, into a very playful drone/glitch/clicks mode. Excellent! I'll have to explore more Bandcamp downloads--  he has several more.

William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops
I bought the first dlp disc when it came out in 2002. I enjoyed it, but didn't find myself listening to it much after the first few spins. The concept and process behind the release captured my imagination more than the music itself. As a result, I did not buy the other discs when they came out. Recently, however, my wife bought me the CD box set for my birthday and I've really been enjoying all of the discs. Hearing them all back-to-back rounds out the experience nicely and gives me a better appreciation for the work.

I listened to the first Disintegration Loops album a while back but I didn't really care for it. I love the background story behind it though.
