I was browsing this topic a little bit and noticed Mozart was mentioned. It's nice there is some appreciation for him here.

I was recently reminded of Mozart's genius when I listened to the last movement from his last symphony (no. 41 "Jupiter").
This is a terrific recording along with some very nice visuals.

Listen to the whole thing and prepare for a completely extraordinary moment near the end. You'll know it when you hear it.
I recommend headphones and watching along with the visuals in full screen. :)

Mozart, Symphony 41, Jupiter, 4th mvt. (shapes)

Segue - The Here and Now
Ambient dub with nice tempo shifts and some really catchy melodies from the Sem label. A nice follow up to last year's Pacifica on Silent Season.

One of my favorite ambient records from the last ten years is Disturbed Earth - Butterfly.  If I remember correctly Butterfly was originally recorded in 1977 with guitars, fx & two reel to reel decks.  It's a wonderful album that breathes & ebbs & flows.  You can now get it on Bandcamp here... Butterfly.

I bring up Butterfly because I today I just discovered that Disturbed Earth(Dean Richards) has a ton of releases, at only $3 each, available on Bandcamp here...Disturbed Earth.

I tend to like some of the older stuff so I started with these releases...

Disturbed Earth - A Crack in the Past
Disturbed Earth - Sleep Of Wonder
Disturbed Earth - Flowers of Goodness
Disturbed Earth - With This Night

The Long Night - Roach and Kelly - love track 5. Overall the album seems more 'basic' than Steve's recent albums, reminding me in some ways of his earlier releases.

I gave Butterfly a listen. What a great album! Thanks for the heads up, Dave and drone on!

Purl - Behind Clouds
New release from Dewtone. This is omg excellent ambient dub. My favorite release yet by Purl. The spacey, electronic soundscapes are perfect, rich, and wisp-like. The beats, while largely being subtle, are quirky (in a nice way) and draw upon a variety of sound sources, making them feel both familiar and alien. I really wish there was a CD for this one; digital only at Bandcamp.

Disturbed Earth ::  Castles in Spain https://disturbedearth.bandcamp.com/album/castle-in-spain

I stumbled across Castles in Spain will searching this artists work due to recent mentions ......excellent production where to my ear the dual tape machines and recording setup really shine and not to mention the music is stunning.  Recorded in 1976 / 2014.....in 1976 I was 14yrs old and had no idea what ambient music was nor Brian Eno..... yet.  That this was recorded that far back sets this music apart for me. It is contemporary though transcends the ambient timeline.

Lost Trail- How An Absence Creates A Presence- A strange brew of drones, meandering piano notes, seemingly random voice/music samples, and tape hiss. The music is beautiful, but it has a very lonely vibe to it. Well worth checking out, especially since you can buy the download at your own price.

Thanks to Julio & Chris for the heads up on two more Bandcamp releases.  I just picked up :

Disturbed Earth - Castles in Spain - sounds very Fripp-like.
Purl - Behind Clouds  -  hits the sweet spot of dubby ambient that I've been craving lately.

And of course while at Bandcamp I found something else...
Twelve - MAGIK - this one is new electronic music that sounds like old Kraftwerk, couldn't resist.  Find it here...MAGIK.

Lastly, a buddy at work gave me a jump drive with some random music he thought I'd like but probably not know about.  And my fav from it is The Giallos Flame.  It's kinda hard to describe it's part Italian horror movie music, part prog rock and part awesome!

Twincities - Variations for Celesta
This is the first release for the new Eilean Records label (http://www.eilean-records.com/), run by Monolyth & Cobalt. Grainy dronescapes based largely on processed celesta, with occasional appearances of guitar and a basement furnace. Pretty neat stuff and likely to be appealing if you like the acoustic/experimental side of ambient.

Buy/Listen: https://eileanrec.bandcamp.com/album/variations-for-the-celesta (The second track is especially good.)

Also recently playing 36's Lithea. I really, really love that CD.

Node 2 is a cracker but in case you haven't you really must check out......

Cosmic Ground  http://cosmicground.bandcamp.com/

Apart from Nachtplank - Echo Ark, this is album of the year so far for me. One of the best Berlin School type albums I have heard. There is a strong ambient theme to this release also.  8)
