Dave, I downloaded that Percival Pembroke release. Very neat!

Eivind Aarset - Dream Logic (ECM)
I read a brief discussion of this disc a few years ago on the Hypnos forums, but never got around to checking it out. My kids bought me a copy for Father's Day, however, and I've been enjoying it immensely. I love the mysterious, dreamy quality of the tracks.

Stephen Vitiello + Taylor Deupree - Captiva
This is a great new vinyl 2x10" + digital release from 12k. Most of the source material comes from improvised guitar and synths recorded at the historic Fish House near Captiva Island, FL. The environmental sounds, as you might expect, emerge in the mix, creating a nice seaside feeling to the ambient soundscapes. The last track is pretty neat, containing some soft piano sounds, treated with found objects from the bay.

Oh, and the art for the album is mesmerizing. The entire package is really nifty.

Tried to check it out, but canīt bother anymore.

Not having audio-sample or even links on their website is the most stupid thing Iīve ever experienced concerning a label.

Greetings,
Tomas

It is probably an oversight on Deupree's part; 12k typically has 1 or 2 samples for each release. Check out the soundcloud page that I linked; it has one of the tracks in full.

Checked out those Martin Nonstatic samples. Excellent!

My daughter and I have been listening to 80's vinyl this evening while playing Minecraft together. Three releases that were fun to revisit:

Hex - Hex
A collaboration between Donnette Thayer (Game Theory) and Steve Kilbey (The Church) from 1989. Ethereal and folksy, in a way that might be appealing to folks who are seeking an aural missing link between Slowdive and Mojave 3.

Throwing Muses - House Tornado
Some good tunes from 1988 with distinctive, mesmerizing female vocals.

The Wolfgang Press - The Burden of Mules
Super quirky record from 1983. There is a lot of diversity in this, including tracks that are majestic, tracks that sound stoned, and tracks that are highly experimental.

Mathias Grassow - Mind Riders

Giving this a listen for the first time in a while and it's one of my favorite Grassow albums.

Also, has anyone listened to First Gift Of Life yet?

Donato Dozzy, this is more minimal/ambient techno in the Kompakt or Moritz Von Oswald vein but I do enjoy the vintage sounding drum machine and sort of aquatic flow.

More people should know about Aidan Baker's solo work. A lot of people just know him for Nadja but I prefer his solo work.

On ...txt and featuring Matt Hillier on two tracks. Abstract soundscapes with lots of subtle details. This is truly excellent.

Glad you like that Chris, it really is a cracker. I think its on a par quality wise with Nachtplank- Echo Ark. Similar ambient magnificence.

My Carpe Sonum CD from Kudos has arrived.........

Lee Anthony Norris & Porya Hatami - The Longing Daylight. This is wonderful.

Wintersilence - Submental Vol. 2
I've been playing this on repeat while going to bed for the past week. Great metamorphosing drone work.
Buy/Samples: http://www.el-culto.com/artists/submental/vol2wintersilence.html

Stanislav Vdovin - Wake Me Up When It's Gone
New release on Anodize by Unit 21 of No Traces (Infraction) fame. This is a real treat. Every song is unique, ranging from electro-acoustic guitar noodling to deep ocean ambient.

Will be checking Wintersilence and Anodize today then  :) ^^^^^^^^^^^

First on this morning was....

Encomiast - Laurentide. I got this on Amazon UK for Ģ0.79 download. I have played it many, many times as the album slowly releases it's secrets. It is a dark, disturbing at times, but serene journey through an alien landscape, probably a frozen world, might even be Antartica.....it would be a cool listen there  ;) I love this album, absolute bargain.

Now playing....
Lee Anthony Norris & Porya Hatami - The Longing Daylight yet again. What can I say except absolutely beautiful music yet again from Lee and Carpe Sonum. Porya is a musician based in Sanandaj, Iran !! Interesting that such ambient beauty can come from that area.

Yagya - Sleepygirls
A new and, for me and some others who adore Yagya's classics, a highly anticipated release. I have mixed feelings about this album though. Some of the tracks are brilliant and creative. The first three, for example, are fantastic--especially when played back-to-back. The album as a whole, however, misses the mark for me. What I really liked about some of his older records, such as Rhythm of Snow and Rigning, was the mix of beats and the super delicate and evocative melodies. Sleepygirls, in contrast, has a relatively invariant beat throughout (very club friendly) and there isn't much in the way of nuance to break up the monotony. The album is good for what it is though. But it can be hard, as a fan, to appreciate something on its own terms without comparing it to what you had hoped for.
