And now back to our regular programming  ;)

Could be my favorite Sakamoto collaboration.....the Fennesz treatments work so well with the piano.  More experimental than Sakamoto & Willets excellent Ancient Future but in a very good way and more accessible than their 12k release Ocean Fire.  Also theres an element in Sakamoto's piano that is reminiscent for me of his film music adding a melodic smoothness to the Fennesz glitch.

Got my cd from Amoeba in San Francisco, had a hard time finding it..... flac is available from Boomkat  http://boomkat.com/cds/33897-fennesz-sakamoto-cendre

Sad News about Sakamoto:

Greetings,
Tomas

Damn that is not good..... lets all send out some good energy.  I personal know two people, one a family member who have won the fight with throat cancer so there is much hope....thanks for the news Tomas.

The last several days I've been revisiting my long neglected Oophoi discs: Archaic Oceans, The Dreams Of Shells, The Time Fragments Series, Arpe Di Sabbia, The Rustling Of Leaves, Nebula- Genesis, Bardo, Hymns To a Silent Sky, Subterranea, Athlit, Mare Imbrium. I've been loving this! Seven years away has made it all seem fresh and new again. The Rustling Of Leaves really stands out, as does Nebula- Genesis and Subterranea.

Jorge Reyes and Suso Saiz - Cronica De Castas

I haven't listened to this in a while. Great stuff. It feels like the precursor to Suspended Memories at times.

Also, Cendre is great and I really hope Sakamoto can survive throat cancer.

I think you'll love it. It captures those unexplainable sensations you feel when you're standing alone in an empty field, listening to the wind whistling through half bare branches, while all around you, everything has turned to brown and red and yellow.

Reverberant Evenings-- After the Silence.  Lovely deep drones shine on this super limited cdr (65 numbered copies in tin box like Periphery label).  Expensive on Discogs but excellent stuff, on txt label.

Move D--The Silent Orbiter.  Also on txt, super limited pressed CD of 100 or 150 copies.  Also paid a hefty price on Discogs for this.  This was an odd choice for a dedication to his friend Pete Namlook.  Super minimal gloomy dark ambient.  Pretty static piece save for some low bass pulses and blips.  Seems like he could have done more with it.  Plus  again an odd choice for a requiem for a friend.

Die Welt Ist Klang--8 CD box compilation tribute to Pete Namlook.  This is a mixed bag.   great pieces by ishqamatics and Peter Benisch.  Some strange pieces by former fax label artists.  Some good stuff by the fan musicians occupying the second half of the set.  Really haven't had time to immerse myself in the set as of yet.

Experiments in Silence- Hidden Harmonic have played this one so many times since receiving it from...txt. One of my favourite ambient albums.

Meant to post on here when I pre-ordered the new Ishqamatics - Waterbound album from ...txt. It is apparently sold out already !

In this vein, I missed out on Reverbrant Evenings mentioned by Drone on above but I see it is available on bandcamp. Also missed out on the Ishqamatics Spacebound CD but got the download. Looks like you have to be quick and on the ball with ...txt if you want a physical copy.

Re the Moufang - Silent Orbiter, I am still having to work at that one. I find that bouncing/ rolling about marble type noise irritating. Bit of a strange album but I will persevere with it, might be better in the winter weather for atmosphere.

And finally Die Welt ist Klang..............I just love the whole thing. Magnificent tribute to Pete. It will be one I will return to for years and I am also still finding my way round this massive work.

Started working through Dave's recommendations above....

Imprints - Data Trails.... very interesting, the last track in particular, The Sea and Electricity, is superb. Beautiful melody and chord progression.

Experiments in Silence--Hidden Harmonic.  Just got this two days ago, excellent disc.  This was sold out but I found it on the Databloem website.  I always check there as they tend to have copies of the sold out stuff on Silent Season and txt labels.

Re: txt label.  Not sure why they keep pressing so few copies when the demand is so obviously high.

Just been checking out John Serrie - Daystar on spotify.

Very nice space ambient album indeed. Don't know what his other stuff is like but this one is very good indeed.

PS There are an additional 25 copies of Ishqamatics - Waterbound been made available on ...txt due to demand, if anyone is interested. They will disappear quickly I suspect.

Boris Lelong - Incubation
This hits all the sweet spots for me. Synth-driven ambient soundscapes that create the sensation of floating on clouds. Mixed in among field recordings are sounds that feel as if they are being triggered by random events or being improvised; kind of in the way that some of James Johnson's work appears at times. Good use of high frequencies without melting my ears. Quite lovely.

Richard Ginns - Fall, Rise
Purportedly inspired by a near death experience. Acoustic and electronic, low-fi drone/ambient in the spirit of Hatami and others.

I don't get it either. And I hate that feeling that I need to buy now or miss the opportunity.

Every album on the txt website is "Sold Out".   Hmmm, maybe because you only pressed 100 and they sold out in one day.  Seems like an ego thing to me  ;)

I've been enjoying the full immersion treatment with Loren Dent's Anthropology Vols. 1, 2 and 3 and his Extras from vol. 1 that we're originally available on a separate memory stick release.  Majestic symphonic drone with occasional hints of Stars of the Lid.  I've also been enjoying Stephen Parsick's clamshell version of Cambrium (Music for Protozoa)--vast dark ambient.
