Just bought - David Bowie - Best of 2CD.

I was never particularly 'into' Bowie, but have been intrigued by how many of these tracks I remember....

Had a listen to the Altus release last night, got about 3 minutes in to the first track on the first album and just had to order the 2 disc set. Absolutely amazing epic sound. An essential purchase, but only 40 copies so be quick.

Janek Schaefer - Unfolding Luxury beyond the City of Dreams
Outstanding release from Dekorder. Minimal ambient with great samples, creative layering, and the perfect blend of mystery and familiarity. Schaefer had a excellent album on 12k in 2014--this is a notch better.

Chris,

I just bought the Janek Schaefer album tonight then I look and see it on your now playing post.  Great minds.

Other recent spins...

Shaded Explorer - Between The Blue  -  more silent season lush dubbiness.
Dan Deacon - America  -  I love the huge, driving sound of this album.  Can't wait for his new one coming soon.
Steve Roach & Dirk Serries - Low Volume Music -  still a fav for sleeping.

Cabaret Voltaire--The Crackdown.  If Joy Division morphed into an electronic dance rock band, it might've sounded like this.  You can hear the influence these guys had on groups like Front 242.

Pixies--Doolittle 25.  3 disc set with peel sessions and demos.

Cabaret Voltaire - , now there is a blast from my past, I've not listened to them in years..... 8)

I just picked up three Bandcamp releases from Man Watching the Stars.  Excellent violin based ambient.

Man Watching the Stars - Dusk
Man Watching the Stars - Qoheleth
offthesky & Man Watching the Stars - Afar- Farewell

Find them all here... https://manwatchingthestars.bandcamp.com/

Robert Davies - Nightshade https://dataobscura.bandcamp.com/album/nightshade
Robert Davies - Arboreal https://dataobscura.bandcamp.com/album/arboreal

I'm slowing turning into a Robert Davies fanboi. Nightshade is the most recent Davies release and, like the others that I've heard, it rests in that fragile space between dark and light. The tracks can either be slightly unsettling or comforting and soothing, depending on your state of mind. Great stuff!

"Violin based ambient"--now there's a phrase I never thought I'd hear.   ;)

I'm so glad that Grassow has been re-releasing his old albums.

Silent Lucidity by Grassow is one of my very favorites by him, just released on bandcamp.

I noticed that.

Also, any other Grassow albums on there that you would recommend? The selection is already staggering.

Seren

I'd highly recommend Space.
If Sphere, Eclipse and Dissolution appear on the site I'd highly recommend them too.

I also really like his collaboration with Amir Baghiri, True North
