AOC - Broken Apart By Sunlight , been on constant play here for days. Fantastiche.

Current play is Mr Roach - Live in Tuscon , inspired by Richard's review elsewhere on here. Great music.

Ryuichi Sakamoto and Taylor Deupree- Disappearance. This is somewhat of a departure for Deupree, in that some tracks have a kind of edge to them, and one track in particular, ("Ghost Road") is even a little eerie. Still slow paced though, with well-placed piano/keyboard notes and Taylor's classic microsound design. I love this disc.

Anthony, Chris/drone on/Orion32 certainly had things to contribute, but he also made a lot ridiculously hostile ad hominem comments things to people here, including myself.  If I remember, he overstayed his welcome in his previous Orion32 guise, too, many years ago.  I don't miss him or his rants.

I miss done on's contributions; I'm eager to learn more about what he's listening to these days.

Some recent spins:

Steve Roach and Robert Logan - Second Nature
I absolutely adore this album; it has been on repeat around here on many occasions since its release. I noticed that Ekstasis thought the quality of the recording wasn't as good as it could have been. But I don't have the technical ears that he has to evaluate it in that way. What I really appreciate about this album is the mood or atmosphere. It is dark and mysterious and fills the room like an aural cloud. This will be a favorite for 2016.

Ishq - Nutopia and Uvanayatu
The two newest Hillier releases on Virtual World. In some respects, Nutopia distills the essence of the experimental blend of Hillier's Ishq soundscapes and his futuristic, sci-fi visions. There are some really nice tracks on here. The album doesn't really flow well, but that is part of what makes it interesting too: there is never a dull moment, and it works best with headphones. Uvanayatu is the latest in his efforts to create tribal otherworld soundscapes. This is a pretty remarkable album if you're into that style (it isn't the typical sound one might expect from Hillier). It takes some of the themes explored in Flowering Mountain Earth and, more recently, in his Omni vu Deity projects, and pushes them to the extreme. Lots of rhythm and rich, immersive layers of sound. Worth a spin, although I realize it won't be a keeper for most.

For those who may not be familiar with drone on's parting shot, here it is:

"I don't think of any of this as "now we're even." .And what apology?  Nobody owes me an apology.  Again, can't a guy make a simple joke here?  Without people saying how dare you joke with a respected artist?   What do you mean "You're no saint"?  Now you're hurling insults and turning this personal?  I sense some latent hostility left over from 15 years ago, which you alluded to when you dredged up my old forum moniker "Orion32.". And you did that because I simply stated you hadn't read the posts carefully about the Planetary Unfolding CD topic.  Very sad.  I think you take yourself far too seriously and get pushed out of shape if anyone challenges you in the very slightest degree.  How about I just say you're an arrogant know it all who probably got picked on in school and beat up for being a little wussy smart ass?  You wanna get personal, you got it Forrest.  I've played nice with you here for awhile now and I THOUGHT the past was the past, but I see you haven't changed.  To the others who jumped on me like sharks over my joke, you're no better than Forrest.  Especially you Tomas Weiss.  Look how I defended you and stood in your corner when you and your label were being attacked on this forum.  And then you join the wolf pack and show your true colors.  Actually you are the master here of insulting people and inciting dischord.  Why are you even still on this forum?  Nobody likes you.  While I'm at it, Hypnos is a fucking joke now.  You put out one CD a year that nobody buys.  You spend all your time emailing everyone once a week to sell old CDs for $5 nobody wants.  And you cry you have no time to release new music?  Nobody here wants to say it .  Well I just did.  I hope the moderator has enough balls to leave this post for all to see, but he probably won't because he's a self righteous wussy like Fang.  Please just remove me, ban me the whole nine yards.  Don't waste your energy notifying me either.  They won't be read, only deleted.  So fuck off Forrest and the other assholes, they know who they are.  Hypnos sucks.  Please stop this charade of pretending to be an ambient label.  Good luck with your $5 sales and washed up label. Take me off all your lists and please ban me for life!  I won't fucking miss it one bit!!! 😝😝😂😱😎"

If this isn't a "burn your bridges" message, I don't know what is.  By not calling out drone on on his personal attacks, you become enablers.

Hi Castleview,

I had a hard time tracking this album down, but am glad I did.  She manages to say so much with seemingly so little.  My favorite kind of minimalism.

That Shirotsubaki sounds nice.  Reminds me of Hakobune's work.

Agreed on Radigue. I couldn't have said it any better myself. She's actually become a big influence on my music.

Thanks, Julio.  Radigue is very unique.  Once I got past my initial reaction ("test tones??"), I could hear more subtle textural things happening on almost a subconscious level.  I'm also just getting into her "Jetsun Mila" release on Lovely Music.  Will have to check out transamorem transmortem soon.

Tomita - The Planets.
Definitely an influence on me - especially in the sound/noise sections.
I used to listen to it under the influence and the more ethereal sections still sound the same to me - very psychedelic and like an aural Bridget Riley Picture.
I still find the complexity of the both the recording and individual sounds amazing given it was recorded (I think) in 1976.

Yes Forrest, her music does require some work or patience to get past the "test tones"......Im intrigued how most piece that I have listen to start with  long single note drones out of the left channel and the right comes in a fair bit later. Curious and at first annoying in a way or better put attention demanding. Also struck by how the outside world of sounds work with her music....Im listen on open back headphones.
