Alan - I've liked quite a bit of Gel-Sol's stuff though I haven't heard that one yet.

np:  Echospace - Coldest Season

Still waiting for my Vantage Isle Sessions to show up!

- Off The Sky: Cold Distances

I've played that a bit lately too. In fact, that and the free one Jason released recently are the only Off The Sky I have. The samples for the others never seemed quite good enough to get me to bite.

From immersive ambient - through perversely captivating contemporary classical - to magnificient, more percussive soundworlds:

Thom Brennan -  Mist
Charles Ives - Sonata no. 2
Byron Metcalf, Mark Seelig (& Roach) - Wachuma's Wave

Dead Texan
I hadn't really given this a concentrated spin until a couple weeks back and now I'm addicted.  Listened to it three times today at work alone.  It's gotten to the point where I'm envisioning stories to go along with the pseudo soundtrack.

Jessamine/EAR
One of my friends had built a Dream Machine (a Brion Gysin/William Burroughs contraption) and this was one of the cd's he had playing in the room back in the day.  Always takes me back.

Stephan Micus - Twilight Fields
Never got around to listening to him.  Most of his out of print (and more sought out) recordings are a bit expensive unfortunately.  I'm giving this one a chance and like it a lot so far.

The Durutti Column-"Treatise on the Steppenwolf" Excellent disc, one of the most ambient DC albums I've heard, typical gorgeous guitars, etc.

Amir Baghiri-"Cages" His first (official) album, and still one of his best.  On the No-CD label.

Circular Ruins-"Falling into the Sky" Perfect music for a melancholy day

Harold Budd-"Agua" Live from Lanzarote music festival '89, he plays live over pre-recorded tapes, nothing groundbreaking but a good overview of his work and flows nicely.

Rod Modell-"Incense and Black Light"
Tetsu Inoue-"Slow and Low"

I SECOND THAT VOTE for "Iz" by Gel-Sol!! I was gonna start a thread on this disc.  The above description was perfect, so if you like Fax/Emit/Ultimae labels, you would probably love this disc as I do!!

Today I've been digesting two new Machinefabriek-related releases:

Dag Rosenqvist (Jasper TX) & Rutger Zuydervelt (Machinefabriek) - Feberdrom (3") (enjoyed this, though it was little more abstract-microsoundy than I was expecting; the highs come through best over phones; the packaging is very cool--sort of an origami art piece that you have to unfold to get to the the CD)
MachineFabriek - Vloed (3 extended live pieces with guitar-driven drones and occasionally intense distortion)

I started out this morning with The Rolling Stones.  I had to drive the car.  Heavy rain's are possible, and I've got to drive to Tallahassee in the afternoon to the digestive disease clinic to set up the endoscopy (been going through hell lately).

Anyway, got to work:
Aretha Franklin  Live at Filmore West
Curtis Mayfield  Live

Coming up:
Deep Purple  Live and Rare
Gentle Giant  Playing the Fool
Jimi Hendrix  Woodstock
The Byrds at Fillmore Ease

It's a LIVE day.
So, I'm a "Sr Member", huh?  In June it's SENIOR DISCOUNT TIME!!!

John, when you tire of the Deepchord, you probably should have a look at Quantec:

Fear Falls Burning - "Frenzy of the Absolute"

This album is absolutely incredible...mind blowing impressionistic destruction of musical form. Gorgeous translation of doom metal/guitar scape ambience. So far beyond everything remotely in its category...

As for Hakobune, Undershadow, where can that tasty looking album be purchased?

9dragons, I picked it up from the label, Symbolic Interaction, in Japan, but if I were in the US, I'd pick it up from the n5md store for just $12:

http://www.n5md.com/mailorder/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&products_id=442

Very nice album of ambient guitar drone by Hakobune, with some great remixes, including a good one by David Tagg, best of all being Jason Sloan's. The n5md site allows you to play short soundclips too.
