Most of the recent HSS discs (the past year or so) are Taiyo Yuden media, Joe.

Well then I guess I'm shit-outa-luck! :-[
...but then again, I don't think I've bought any Secret Sounds discs in the last year.

And I didn't mean to suggest that the fault is with your product- as I've mentioned, I have problems with many CDRs. I'm sure you don't get many complaints.

Well, just as I've had to pretty much retire my beloved Rotel CD player (from the mid 80s) due to the problems with CDRs, you may need to do something similar with your player.  There's just so much CDR-only music out there that to me (and admittedly, my situation is different because I have no way to avoid listening to CDR demos and HSS releases and test masters and so on) it's important to have a player that will reliably play CDR discs.

As much as I complain about this "problem", I have never had a problem with HSS :)

Another CD-R this AM with several errors that evidently could not be read successfully resulting in an "insecure" rip:

James Johnson - Surrender

~sigh~

 :-\

Addendum:  ...and the next disc up was even worse...Luis Paniagua - La bolsa o la vida

This disc had over 600 and is a commercial CD.  All the errors were on the last song.

The James Johnson disc had 6 errors.

I just ripped 6 or 7 CD-Rs from AtmoWorks and not one error was present :)

Now off to the wildflower plant sale:

So be it!

Adios "CD-R Deterioration"!

You were a long, boring thread, but you were there when I needed you.

I unlocked this thread in remembrance of Rigel Orionis.  He is still missed.

He participated in this thread quite a bit.  RIP.
